16x DVD-ROM for $9 , Olympus 4MP camera $199 at OM

For those of you that got the Cendyne DVD drive but actually got a Samsung or Lite-On, could you comment on how to tell the difference by looking at the serial numbers. I picked up 3, 2 with very similar serial numbers and 1 a lot different. I'd like to ID them without breaking the seal.

I don't know if this will help, but both of mine are Samsung. Both have a 14 digit serial # starting with K05463CTC0****. Also. Both share the same # above the SKU. That being CDICD00085.



Btw all. I ripped Lethal Weapon 4 in less than 5 minutes. DVD Decrypter showed 16.2 x at rip end! Yup. 16.2 x. Awesome.

I just got back from my local OM in Placerville, California. I got the last Cendyne and 2 pacific digital drives. They said they had like 2 pacific digitals left. So if you live up by me, you can a Pacific Digital for $19.95 still.

By the way, the Manager did not even know that they were this price. LOL..

Thanks pinan for your response... looks like I got at least 2 samsungs. My 3rd has a somewhat different serial #, but the same sku, so i probably have a samsung on that one as well.

Next issue: In the specs it says "win 2k server not supported"... I haven't installed it yet to know for sure, but I'm assuming this will be a problem since i use win2k Server. Anyone know if this is applies to the DVD hardware, or maybe it's just referring to the bundled software -- PowerDVD.

I got a samsung drive with the serial # starting with K05463CTBO****.

I got another samsung drive with the serial # starting with K0546RDTBO****.

Like Pinan, they both share the same # above the SKU: CDICD00085.

Picked one up today. Looks like a samsung from serial number. Box dosent show WIN XP in req. Wondering if anyone has any problems running with XP or using the included power dvd with win xp. Still havent opened and hoping to use in a budget computer for Xmas gift.

I went to the one at florin road and the manager sub the mad dog 16x for me, artec 16x model DHM-G48. He said he would only do it once for me tho, I guess I got lucky.
