I dunno i had the guy run a search from the Olathe store. The computer showed that 103rd and State Line Rd had 2 and the 95th and Quivira had 2. He called State Line OM and the didn't have any left. The Quivira store said they had on more.

Anyhow, the one i got was a Samsung DVD Master 16E

I've got someone at work that wants it. If they change their mind I'll let you know.

Ebay is already littered with Jagoffs like some of these guys buying multiple drives and ruining any deal for the rest of us. :brokenheart:

I know... That sucks and it will burn them as well. Before the deal, I heard that they weren't going for much more than $10 anyway, so if they bought them to resell on Ebay, it's their loss. I bought 3 just to have drives on hand for computer builds. You can't buy a new drive, let alone a dvd rom for under $10 most of the time.

Just got back from the Bellevue/Overlake WA store. No Oly's, no Cendynes. Didn't bother asking what the computer says.

I picked up the last Cendyne (LTD-163D) and one pacific digital (DHI-G40) at the Niles, IL store. They had two more Pacific Digitals on hand if anyone is interested. All were the DHI-G40's although the manuf date was April'02 one the two left (I grabbed the Sept'02 hoping it might be an improved model).

From what little I know, the LTD-163D looks like a good drive. Any opinions on the DHI-G40 (Artec from what I've picked up so far).

Found one of the Cendynes at the Carlisle PA OMax. Called 3 diff OMax's in the area, all said they had em, but when I got there they only had the PacDig's. Carlisle had quite a few of Cendynes, but they were on their way out the door at the request of another store somewhere...they wouldn't say where. Mine turned out to be a LiteOn...pretty spiffy drive. Ri...err...watching T3 right now :-D

I went into OM and picked up a ticket for the drive. I told the guy at the register that I wanted a price check. He looked at it long and hard. I leaned over and saw $60, $69, and $9. He told me the drive was $60. Later I thought this can not be right. I went back and had someone else check. She said wow! it is only $9! I told her to give me two. There was three in stock. She gave the keys to the guy who I spoke with earlier and told him to unlock the cage and get them. He looked in there for a while and the said well I do not see that drive............ I leaned over him and said, " There are some behind that box!" He pulled two out with a not so good look on his face and gave them to me without saying a word. HA HA!!!!!!!

If I hadn't bothered to ask, I wouldn't have a brand new spiffy 16X DVD-ROM now. No tags left on the shelf, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

At the OM I stopped at, I asked them to check stock, and they refused. Claimed that everything was out on the shelf already. Also refused to sell me some items, that were listed on their web site, for the same price listed on their web site.

I'm fed up with OM. Sadly, OD is no longer in this state, and Staples tends to give nearly the same POOR customer-service as OM does.

This was such a hot deal. Can't beleive I almost paid $31 for a similar drive from NewEgg. (Not that I have anything against NewEgg...)

So I walked out of OM earlier this week with four drives. My friend walked out with three. And no I don't feel like I "spoiled" the deal for anyone. This was a legit price on a discontinued item and it's first come first serve. As other people have indicated, these make nice Xmas gifts and even if they didn't they are great to have around for system builds since $9 even for a CDROM drive is a good deal.

As for me I'm using one in my main box, one in the HTPC, one in the server box and giving the last one as an Xmas gift.

In case anyone was wondering, these drives play DVD+R flawlessly and are a good match up with the 50-pack of DVD+Rs I got from OD a while back for $45. Now if only my Cyberhome player would play fscking DVD plus Rs!!!

My OM had a bunch of 16x Cendynes and Pacific Digitals according to the amount of slips there were to take to the register(that is if they were the same models). both were listed on clearence for like 69 and both rang at the full clearance price not the 9 or 19. Oh well my luck

I got in on this deal. Picked up the Olympus C-4000 display model at the Lebanon Road OMax in Nashville. It was missing the lens cap, so the cashier gave me an extra 3% discount. Total price: $173ish + tax.

Also grabbed a 64MB SmartMedia card for $20 and a camera case for $10. They were out of $9 Cendynes, but I was able to grab the last $19 Pacific Digital.

Thanks, OP!

Sadly I got one of those too, BTC is generally crap but for the price you can't beat it!

Tonight I had a feeling I should stop by again and there happened to be a cendyne that was put on the shelf!!! Strange because they were sold out the last few days. It's a lite-on So check your local stores again! (YMMV)
