All OM in 5 boroughs of NYC are out of the Olympus C-4000 and both DVD drives. Queens store said Brooklyn had 0 cameras and 3 cendynes, but Brooklyn store claims to have none.

If you didn't get in on the DVD drive deal at OM, Newegg has a black Lite-On DVD drive (OEM with Software) on sale for $27 shipped. This is the lowest price I have seen for this drive. Linkie

they don't sound so stupid to me
if i set a apple pie out on the sidewalk, how can i be mad because someone picked it up and ate it?
those om employees just dropped off a well-learned lesson, and it only cost $60!

Looks like this was 1 week only even though most stores are sold out. I found a display model of the Olympus C-4000 at OM and asked to buy it. After about 30 minutes of waiting they tell me they don't have the box and other stuff for it. He takes my info says he will call the company and get the missing stuff. Then I get home and get a call from him saying he found a store that had a box and all the stuff and he had it waiting for me. So I go in all excited only to find out the price rings up $400 now . Oh well guess I should of never stopped checking this forum at least 3 times a day hehe. This was in Chicago.

I wonder if the cendyne drives ring the full 69 now

Oh well, odds of any major store still having them are low. Has anyone checked the cd-rw and dvd+rw drives yet? I may do so tonight if I can get time (yeah I know i've said that before, but i'll actually do it this time )

most of the xeroxed in-store offers are -- probably just to bleed off extra inventory?
i just wish i had bought more drives -- bought one one sunday and then one on monday, so as not to kill it and leave some for others
but found out later last week that a lurker went around and bought them ALL four at one, six at another, that sort of thing
what i get for playing fair

Well, at least you got one. =)

Someone went around to every OM here in Salt Lake and cleaned them all out by monday last week. I guess that I should be grateful that they waited until monday.

Reminds me of the deal that Media Play had on PS2 broadband adapters a while back (free adapter when you bought Everquest for $20 or so). Super amazing deal, but the only reason I got one is that someone got a clue at a store and set a limit of one per customer. I don't know why stores don't realize that it's probably in their best interests to do this sort of thing, unless they really don't give a flip about _who_ buys the damned things and just want to move them. You think you'd get a lot more satisfied customers if they'd put more limits on sales (and a few pissed off people who were just going to turn around and ebay most of them anyway!). Yes, people are always going to find ways around most of the limits, but it should slow things down enough so that more `end-consumers' get in on the deals.

If anyone could please send me a scan of their receipt ( jrc76@hotmail.com ), showing that you bought the DVD-ROM for $9, I would greatly appreciate the help. It would great to get a scan of a receipt from a Virginia OM, but at this point i'm not going to be that picky
Thanks!

Having worked in retail for many years I would agree with you on normally stocked merchandise that is advertised on sale. Or even on special or limited editions of new product. However, you can't expect a retailer to limit clearance items. It's just like the after Christmas markdown sales first come, first served. The whole purpose of marking the item down to a loss price is to sell through any remaining stock they may have. Nobody limits closeout merchandise.
