Ordered mine on the 3rd....got mine today. There was a refurb sticker on my PS2 box. Looks brand new...wouldn't read my two DVD's at first...but i think it was because it was either too cold (used it rt after i got it from the fed ex man) or my DVDs are too scratched up. Both play fine now though.

I just got mine today (courtesy of overnight shipping), and it wouldn't even power up. So much for those really good checks. In EB's defense, they are overnighting me another one and paying for me to ship the original one back, but I'm now sitting here PS2-less when I should be playing games.

Sony (or whoever) is refurbing these needs to up their QA standards a LOT.

As been stated in just about every thread mentioning the words "PS2" ,it had been mentioned that it is not likly to drop in price any time soon. Sales figures showed that the PS2 was selling at a very nice pace in compeition to xbox and gamecube. There is no reason for Sony to issue a price break since people are willing to shell out $300 for it. Some people are saying that once the BBA and hard drive come out, that they will be bundled with the console and keep the price at $300. This sounds like a more logical move for Sony financialy. to reiterate, a price break is not likely to happen.

in some instances: yes. Though if you were to order today, it probably will not even get processed by today. Ebgames puts your order on "hold" for at least a day before sending the order to the wherehouse. If you were to order right now, it would probably ship out around Tuesday of next week.

I went into the pre-owned section and sorted on price. That brought the most expensive items first. It's one of the more expensive pre-owned items They also have a bundle which includes GTA3 for about 30 bucks more.

Hmmm, should I go through the trouble of returning my purchased bundle for one of the premade bundles to save, what about $10? (after shipping return and new bundle) Can you return these items to a B&M store to save on return shipping?

The questions one has to ask himself as far as is my time worth the effort?

This deal isn't turning out to be quite as hot as I thought it was gonna be... EBGames sent me a ps2 that would only play 1 of the 6 games I tried on it, and it looked pretty dusty from what I could see through the grill of the fan and the cd tray. Not much of a refurb job. Sooo, I talked to them and they agree'd to pay to have it sent back and send me a new one, but me, being the genious I am, decided to test the system one more time before sending it back, and proceded to leave my new copy of FFX in there. I called em and the worker put a note on my account to look for the game, but he seemed doubtful that they'd see it and time, so I may be shafted out of $50 plus tax... Hope not. And now they got this free GT3 thing going, omg I hate you EBGames! Plus, my friend is letting me borrow his ps2 while mine is being shipped back, so now I keep playing GTA3 all day instead of doing homework, which is a bitch because now I'll have to program all weekend instead of getting drunk and having sex with large breasted neighbor! EBGames, you're screwing me out of sex!!!!!

After reading through the thread, I've seen some good points and some bad ones about the PS2's that they received. In the end, I'm decided that I'm waiting 'til the summer to see what the price will be of a new one. The Gamecube and Dreamcast will last me until then.

Argh! Sometimes it's good to read this forum (I got in on this deal), but sometimes it's annoying!

So I ordered one of these about two weeks ago. My friend wanted it *really* bad, so I decided to sell it to him for the same price (I'm a nice friend). I told him he should just order his own, but he really wanted mine so he wouldn't have to use a credit card. Anyway, I though "heck, I like my Dreamcast enough...I'll just use the DC and sell the PS2 to him."

Long story short, I decided to order *another* one (It IS a PS2 at a great price!) I placed the order at 8:00pm PST Tuesday night. The system alone. I didn't bother to check for any changes on the site on Wednesday. I got it today and am quite pleased with it. But of course, I didn't get the free GT3. It's not a *terrible* thing, but to know that I missed it by less than 12 hours...that is kind of annoying. I could probably call EB to explain the situation, but I think I'll end up more aggrivated when I get the "no" answer (since my chances are very slim here).

The really ironic thing is....this new PS2 is Model Number: SCPH-35001. This is the model number that is only sold new in a Red Box and bundled with...you guessed it...GT3.

Irony is theme of my life.

This one is in *excellent* condition though. It literally looks brand new...no scratches or anything. So while I didn't get the best deal possible, I am quite pleased. Of course I would have been more pleased if I didn't check this forum religiously. heh heh

Mine did not come in a Sony blue box..it game in a "EB Games Pre-Played Video System" Box. Actually the box is very nice. It makes me feel a little better than just getting a brown box with a cheap label that says "USED" on it. heh heh

Also, here some games that I've found over the past few days (yes, I bought them before the system even came!) at decent prices:

"Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force" - $29.99 at Target B&M.
"Toyko Extreme Racer Zero" - $19.99 at Best Buy B&M.
"QueBall" - $9.99 at Best Buy B&M.

Now can someone tell me, is there any *real* benefit to buying the Sony Brand DVD Remote? I know that it Quasi-Updates the DVD Firmware to a Version 2.0 something (and requires a memory card..which we all have or will get anyway), but is that *just* to support the remote..or does it improve/expand DVD Playback capabilities? My DVD Version is 1.30 (since it's the PS2 that came in the Red Box). Most of the DVD Versions out there are 1.20.
