i got mine from them couple days ago, ordered ps2, mgs1,mgs2,gt3,gta3, and mem card ... and all I can say is im impressed with the condition everything was in.

the ps2,mgs1,gt3, and gta3 were all used. none of the games had scratches, and the ps2 came in the original packaging with twist ties, bags, and a new sealed info sheet etc..

i'm guessing they put the cd's through a cleaning/scratch removal process, since none of them had any scratches whatsoever. uncluding mgs1 which is an old game. all the games had proper cases and manuals.

for 12 bucks overnight shipping was a no brainer.

I guess I lucked out since I didn't order the gt3 bundle DOH!, but i guess im lucky that I got everything in fantastic shape for dirt cheat.

I paid 380 total. considering it would cost me for everything new 300+20+50+45+50+35+tax would be around 540!! also mgs2, and the memory card were new and shipped from another place vs. the used stuff.

used ... you could have fooled me, even the ps2 unit, controllers had no scratches or wear marks. one thing I did notice, they put a 3500 series ps2 in a 3000 series box.

i a happy camper.

<< seems like alot of ppl bought with this deal, how can they have so many used ps2? >>

Here's what I think has happened (My friend is an EB B&M manager):

As part of the PS2 launch of 2000, EB corporate was pushing hard for stores/employees to sell the extended warranties. Why? Warranties have a huge profit margin!

Two ways in which employees were successfully selling extended warranties:

1) Because of the PS2 crunch, desperate customers were offered a PS2 for sale bundled with a extended warranty.

2) Employees were allowed to aggressively market/promote/sell the extended warranty. ( This eventually stopped because of the
growing stockpile of non-functional PS2's.

Below is a sample employee/customer interaction:

Employee: Would you like to purchase an extended warranty for your PS2?

Customer: Hmmm......how much is it?

Employee: $XX.XX dollars for X # of years.

Customer: No, I __Fill in the blank__ it.

Employee: What if I told you that if you spilt soda on it,
dropped it on the floor and then kicked it like a soccerball,
took a crap on it,
opened it up with a chainsaw,
ran it over with your car,
hit it with your baseball bat,

.....and if it doesn't work then you can bring it back in for a new one.

Customer: Really???

Employee: Yes thats right for only, $XX.XX, you can insure you PS2 for X # of years.

Of course, some people actually did those wacky things like opening it up with a chainsaw. Well, I hope that answers your question,
bleuless.

I guess some of you aren't really gettin' a Hot Deal.

Moral of the story: Don't buy extended warranties especially from Worst Buy because they don't honor their sh!t.:|

I ordered mine yesterday, it shipped yesterday, and I should get it today. I got the PS2+GT3 bundle. I will post the condition of the system and game once I get my sweaty little palms on it I need to get an svideo adaptor and memory card now. Anyone know the best place to pick these up fairly cheaply?

I just bought the PS2 memory card from Best Buy for $35. Damn they're expensive; that's why I got an X-box for Christmas instead of a PS2. Also, it appears that the S-Video cables for my PS1 should work with the PS2. Does anyone know if that is correct?

the deal is still on as far as games go,

i just added a game, and it took the 15% off ...

so your good to go to get some great deals on preowned games still..

the ps2 wasnt in the preowned section anymore so they might be out of stock on it, which means its still might be good

hello everyone,

I also got in on this deal for the PS2 + GT3. I received them today and the GT3 wouldn't even boot up. I keep getting the following "no data". Does anyone have any suggestions?

P.S. I put in a few of my dvds and they all seemed to work just fine and I had a PS2 DVD demo game and that also worked fine.... so I think my PS2 system works fine but the stupid GT3 just doesn't work.

I want to ship it back to ebgames so they can exchange me another one. Does anyone know if I can ship it via USPS and if ebgames will refund me my shipping fee?

Thanks

david.

Can the people that received it please list the model # and serial #? I'm just wondering if these are the first models or are newer ones.

What does your serial # start with? U??
If your serial number begins with a 'U1' and has a total of 10 case screws (located on bottom of case) then your PS2 is US version 1
If your serial number begins with a 'U0' and has a total of 10 case screws (located on bottom of case) then your PS2 is US version 2. However, if your PS2 has only 8 case screws and the serial number begins with a 'U0' then your PS2 is a US version 4
If your serial number begins with a 'U2' and has a total of 10 case screws (located on bottom of case) then your PS2 is US version 3
If your serial number begins with a 'U3' 'U4' 'U5' or a 'U6' and has a total of 8 case screws (located on bottom of case) then your PS2 is US version 4

There really aren't new features but there is a new modchip out that allows you to play import games. That is what I'm mostly concearned about.

If you're looking for a *decent* memory card, Target has one on sale for $20.00. It is made by Nyko and it is Officially Licensed by Sony. I bought one and it works perfectly. It uses the MagicGate Technology, so you won't have to go through hoops that other Non-Sony Memory Cards make you go through (like one that makes you boot from a Memory Manager CD First, then load a game...those SUCK).

The only problem is Target has been completely sold out for about 2 weeks (I have wanted to buy another one since it works so well). The sale goes on until the middle of February, so there's still a chance to get one once they get more in.

The only drawback with this car is it is Yellow. But to save $15, I'm all for it.

gdana-
Your suspicion that the PSone S-video cables are compatible is correct. I was able to just unplug my old-school Playstation and hook up my PS2: power cable and s-video without any problem.

Just received my preowned ps2 + gt3 combo today. It is version 1, serial number started with u1. I thought they will sent me a red box, offical gt3 combo package, but ended up just a blue box old version 1 ps2 with a seperate gt3 game. The ps2 is dusty and broken. When i put in any dvd or cd audio, the system will say disk error. I can't play any dvd video or cd audio. Called ebgames.com, they asked me to send it back for an exchange and they will credit me back the shipping charge. Hope I will get a version 4 ps2 next time, so i can mod the ps2 to play import and backup.
Also I found out that the blue box came with the ps2 has a different serial number, not the same as the ps2 system, and the manual is for 30001R, not my 30001 ps2. Obviously, ebgames.com just grab whatever they have and combine them in a package.
