Anyone heard if these things are worth the $$$?? I'm looking for a cheap lcd to use in a mod, and this is as cheap as I think I'll ever see, but don't really want junk that'll get thrown out 2 days after the warrantee runs out, ya know?

I'm starting to wonder if this Smart Modular 17" lcd for $139.95 after mail in rebate deal is the better choice?

Higher price with a bigger rebate, but you don't have to add on anything to your order to get the free shipping, and the after rebate price is just $10 higher, plus (from what I read somewhere else) they only charge sales tax in like 4 states.

25ms response time, so gamers won't want it, but anyone that's complaining about 25ms response on a $140 17" lcd needs their head examined anyways!!

Oh yeah, and with a 3 year warrantee (versus the 1 year for the Lite-On monitor), you hopefully have fewer worries about lifetime of the unit.

any other comments on this monitor? thinking about gettinga fathers day gift for my dad, it would fit nicely into his workspace. he does watch movies on his PC on occasion.

There are barely any reviews on this monitor. Some site did a quick review of it and said the colors weren't that great.
25ms isn't that good for gamming either.
I forgot if that site said something about text, but it should be good enough and it is a $130 LCD so it won't be top quality.
