17" LCD: Samnsung, Hitachi, BenQ, Viewsonic.

Need to find one. The best 17" out of the companies.
Select please. Eizo is not on the list cus i think it is too expensive.

I'm interested in this too. I think I'm going to go with one that has a 16ms response time. So far Benq is the only one I can find. Are there any other 17" 16ms LCDs out there?

Depends what you want to do with it. Gaming? Spreadsheets? DVD? What are you looking for out of the monitor?

Does Dell make a 16ms one? I read about how everyone is really happy with the 1800FP they all got from the recent discount at Dell. I'd love to get one, but I'm worried about ghosting if it isnt 16ms.

How does what you want to do with the LCD make a difference? Is it because a good response time is required for gaming? I'm looking for one too. Used mainly for office work -- spreadsheets and such. No gaming or DVD viewing and such.

Also, is the dot pitch in LCDs the same as that in CRT monitors? A dot-pitch of .264mm in the above-mentioned Hitachi is not very impressive, is it? What should one be looking for? .24mm?

I don't think 0.24 is that common...(not even sure if they exist ).... but at least look for now a good color coordination + decent response time ~25ms

I have (2) Dell 1800FP's (25ms) and do not see any ghosting when I watch movies and play UT 2K3. At $415.00 these guys were a steal.

I like my KDS monitor, its competively cheap in price, and if something goes wrong deal with KDS was extremely easy to get a RMA without proof of purchase(since the ID on the back of my monitor was within the manufacting warranty range) Only thing that suck was spending the $80 to ship it but with flat panels I doubt it be more than $20. If something was to go wrong down the road.

16 ms is the min ur should consider i think now. i have 15" benq good stuff, ussually cheaper too.

hmmm my sister has a cheapo benq...

when i scroll when i'm looking at pictures or text, everything is severely blurred.. poor access times... though it was on VGA..

anyone had comparison between viewsonic and samsung? they seem preetty good choices.. viewsonic vx700 is quite cheap comapred to samsung 172T
infact viewsonic VX800 is the same if not similar to samsung 172T

any ideas?

Don't like Viewsonic VX series, using MVA panel, have thick bezel.

the hitachi is 200 USD cheaper than samsung........ is it worth to get samsung? am i going to be dissappointed in playing games with samsung? or whats this about colour problem with hitachi? can anyone describe it? they say something about dark and bright shades? what does that mean?
