I've got a 17" LG studioworks 700s, it's max display is 1280x1024@60hz (yeah sad) i run it at 1024x768@85 cause i hate anything less than 85hz refresh. however i was poking around. and i unticked the "hide modes this monitor cant display" box and bumped it up to 100 and it seemed fine..no problems..so then i changed to 1280x1024@85hz and it was displaying fine..even put it up to 100hz and it seemed fine.
My question: My monitor obviously isnt designed to run at these refresh rates at certain reses, however if i was to run them at that would it cause severe damage? aka bye bye monitor. or if its displaying fine (none of that messed up distorted lines) would it be good? kind of like overclocking your monitor =p.
Thanks in advance, as i wanna move out of the stoneage that is 1024x768 without getting a new monitor.
