now the next mission...where can we get a reasonable motherboard for this bad boy? i checked egay, but all the auctionz are pretty much useless, in terms of usefulness.

are there any NEW LPX moterboards out there that we can get for this that will support a decent processor, like a celeron?
i would be inclined to buy a few of these if that was the case...

Deuce, they sell LPX motherboards that support up to 133MHZ bus, and coppermines. Unfortunately, these seem to be in short supply in the 'States. (About the only place you'll find them is in a BookPC system.)

Most come with 4mb video ram, and riser cards that support a PCI and AMR slot. Also, 'most' of the newer boards use an ATX style PS, while the one that comes with the monitor is an AT style.

(You'll need to get an AT-ATX adapter, and hack yourself a power switch.)

this thing's kinda lame...but it's a good deal for a 17" monitor since it works alone

I wonder if my daughter's IBM PC300GL from about two years ago would fit. It has a riser card, on-board video and is slot 1.

I was going to buy it, ONLY to know that it take LPX instead of NLX mobo.
Oh well...can't go back to AT-style.

They sell LPX mobos that are Socket 370 - around $300 when I checked at pricegrabber.com. Only 3 stores had them - I think computers4sure is one of them.

Since the monitor is so ugly anyway, would be it possible to leave a regular mobo in there and leave it sticking out?

htyei: I'm sure it has the same internals as other KDS 17" monitors I've seen. They do 1024x768 just fine, but 1280x1024 will cause a headache.

fixedbyjohn U did not click on hotlink to enlarge view right under the thing-a-ma-jig !! If U had done so, in the enlarge widow u were able to get a 3D view. Which u could have rotated it with your mouse. Saw that there are one 3x5 bays on each side. In the rear there were 4 more. With the one in the front making a total of SEVEN cd rom BAY(S).

Sorry if this post makes u seem foolish. It was not my intent. Just wanted to point the error out. Cause spring cleaning is just around the corner. What better way to rid the closet of those 2X, 4X ,10X cdrom drives !!

Will a Micro ATX mainboard fit inside here? There are lots of all-in-one MATX mainboard for around $40.

If the board were small enough, I'm sure there's a way to make it fit....using a drill, saw, welder, etc. I guess you'd have to see it to know for sure.

I saw some LPX parts on egay. I wasn't really paying attention because I have absolutely no space at the time (thanx to OM) to partake in this project.

Sorry but I don't see the 3D view either. Looks like a plain ol jpeg to me

That compgeeks thing motherboard would work fine.

Being limited to around 200 mhz would suck though...

I mean, only $49 for the board and $99 for the rest is an awesome deal if all you need is a wordprocessor and an web browser.
