17" Sandy Bridge Notebook

Hello,

Right now I'm trying to find a 17" Sandy Bridge Notebook without Graphics (use on-chip GPU). Just wanted to see if anyone had good or bad experiences.

Dell Inspirons Rs ; Latitude E5000/6000
HP Pavillion ; G series; Envy
Lenovo ThinkPads
Samsung
Sony
????

Will only use it for desktop replacement with no gaming but lots of high performance math and vector graphics.

Which models are the most reliable and bang for the buck?

Any info would be appreciated!

just a general response... i've always found Dell laptops to be quite reliable. plus i hear their customer service is good as well.

but i guess HP and SONY is up there too.. i dont know about the rest.

I don't own a SB laptop, but I'm 90% sure that it's slower than those super computers that skim off all the extra money on day trades

I'd recommend Dell for reliability and build quality.

Another model you might want to consider aside from the Inspiron is the Dell Vostro 3750, which gets a good write up in the linked review if you're interested in reading up more.

The range starts under £400 if you're looking for bang for buck and can go with the integrated graphics.... plus it sounds like a good all-round biz laptop with a 17 inch screen and SB CPU.

The downside is the screen is not full HD res but 1600x900, although some sacrifices obv have to be made to get the price down somewhat.
