18 - 22" LCD recommendation

My wife recently asked me if i wanted to get rid of my 6-year old 19" Optiquest monitor.
Without hesitation I said hell yeah. The only reason she wants to get rid of it is because
of the size this sucker takes up. What LCD monitor do you recommend.
I'm thinking of Apple Cinema display but not sure if it's PC friendly, other brands
that im considering are Sony and Samsung. Also looking at the 42" Plasma from Gateway.
What do you folks think?

i just bought a viewsonic vg191. it rocks.

otherwise, dell are bringing down their prices on their 20" lcd's, which are quite tasty, but at the end of the day if you have money to burn then there is only one company worth going for, and thats www.eizo.com.

I have a 22" Apple Cinema display that I use on my PC. I have a Dr. Botts DVIator converter that converts the ADC to a DVI connector. It works just fine on a PC.

There are some pics of it here and you can see that it's running WinXP.

I initially asked about it in this thread in which Anand himself replied that he had the same setup.

The Dell 19" or 20", definitely. 19" is 1280x1024, 20" is 1600x1200.

the dell 20" LCD is the right monitor for now - BIG, reasonable price ~$800

if you need to spend more (that is wifey will allow you to spend more of your money) - GET TWO!

samsung makes some really bright, contrasty monitors..but you'll pay more (lots more)

my advice - get the dell 20", if thats not enough - get 2 of em!
