I have two working in my home and they are nothing but a delight. I have a friend who also owns one and she loves it as well. That is three which I have personally seen and worked with which produce no ghosting or any problems. They are wonderful and a great steal at $400.

I still question all the problems people stated.

1. I have seen three personally and havnt experienced any problems.
2. many of the negative comments came from people who did nothing but read the specs which is simply stupid.
3. you have 15 days to try it out at walmart.

Give it a shot and get yourself a good deal.

also, check out the problems with that dell lcd which everyone was saying was better..lol.

microtek = lcd bliss

cheers

anybody find a good review yet?

I found this positive one on the 17

harcoreware.net

and we probably will feel like $400 was insane by next year ( I remember paying 300 for a 3 gig drive)

and would the samsung 955df for $225 be a better monitor?

while looking for reviews on the microtek I found positive reviews on the AOC LM800, which has a 3 year warranty and is around $480.

I am sure the price on the Walmart won't increase, so I'm going to wait till I see more positive reviews. The monitor is not even listed on the Microtek website.

Sounds like a nice monitor, I'll wait a year or so and get it a lot cheaper, stick by my 19" fd trinitron for now.

I have been on a quest to find the perfect LCD monitor for me. To date I have tried the Walmart 18" Microtek, a Sams club Sceptre X9S-Naga and did extensive shopping at various retailers. To get a reall great picture on any of the monitors I found it necessary to go into the video cards control panel and tweak color settings, gamma settings, etc. I was never able to get a satisfactory display using only the monitors display settings. The Walmart 18" looked good after finding the right combo of settings, but I knew that I would never be happy without a DVI input, so it went back. The Sceptre had DVI(which I have not been able to get to work on either of my video cards) and an extra inch of display, but it is going back tomorrow because of the DVI problem. I have decided to go with the Dell 1800FP for $510 shipped and just hope that this is the one.
If you don't care about DVI, I think it would sweet to have two of the 18" Microteck set up in a dual display.

I have both the Microtek 15" & 18". For what I paid for them $170 & $400, I've been satisified. I don't have a video card with DVI, nor do I plan to buy one anytime soon. The 15" is running on an old ATI AIW, and the 18" on a slightly newer AIW. Once I dialed in the settings, I thought they looked pretty good. I'm sure the prices will continue to fall on LCDs, just like everything else, but I wanted to free up some desk space, so it was worth it to me.

I have had 4. 1 was a dud and had stuck buttons up inside the case and the other 3 work great! it does halo for a few seconds during power up it is no big deal. I am experiencing no ghosting at all yet. watch TV on it looks fantastic! $424 out the door with no rebates is great. funny thing it works well under different resolutions. I didn't think LCDs were supposed to do that?

Huh?

Do you Wally employees know if this is going to be a regular item on your menu?

I have a Microtek 17" from Office Depot late last year. The screen is bright and the color is vivid. I think that it was an excellent deal. The only problem I had was I had to returned the first one due to dead pixels.

Walmart has "pricedropped" these 18" Microtek LCD's down to $350. They had 4 left at the Walmart superstore in Hanover, Pa at $350. I bought one yesterday and it works fantastic. I am running it with a gforce3 ti200 on an Asus A7V333, Athlon XP 2100 on Windows XP. There is no ghosting or blurring on any program including the games that I have tried so far including Serious Sam, Tiger Woods 2003, NHL 2002, Wolfstein. DVD playback is fabulous with Win DVD with no ghosting or blurring at all. The only program that I noticed some ghosting and blurring was on TV playback IN FULL SCREEN ONLY with my TV Wonder card. I also only use DScaler as my TV playback software since ATI MMC 7.1 is so unstable. The "auto" adjustment button on the monitor worked great and tuned the monitor perfectly to clear and sharp text. Play with the remainder of the contrast (w / ind. color controls) , brightness, color temp options, etc. to tune the monitor in with your computer / vid card. Windows XP detects the monitor as plug n play and allows refresh rates to 75mhz. Most DVI monitor drivers only allow refresh rates to 60mhz. Based on my experience with other LCD's and laptops, the key is to run LCD's and associated software programs in their native resolution, in this case 1280 x 1024. If a game is ghosting or blurry, it is usually because it is running in a non native resolution. ( ie: 800 x 600 ) Also remember to activate "clear type" fonts in Win XP on any LCD for fabulous font smoothing / clarity on any LCD.

You can activate clear type fonts by going to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/1.htm?fname= &fsize=[/L]

I did get the halo around the monitor this morning after I turned it on, but it disappeared in 3 minutes. This Microtek 18" LCD works great and is a steal $350.
