It looks like they doubled the construction speed working full 24 hour days (can't turn on massive lights like that in most US cities)
But it looks like they also used a nice amount of pre-fab work.

That's like saying you "built" a prefab house in five days. One article claims 95% of the work is done in the factory. Plus they're most likely working round the clock to assemble the building, so that's 21 shifts in a week instead of the typical five or six.

If it reduces on-site disruption and noise, then surely that's a GOOD thing? If the prefab can be done somewhere in an industrial area where it will be more efficient and less of a problem from a noise and pollution perspective, that's good...

Lol, I'd guarantee it. Most building here are constructed to the bare minimum code allows for. Sometimes less if the government inspectors are angling for a little spending money.

It's a wild guess as to the quality. I couldn't get the OP's link to work, so I found another video on Youtube. Apparently it was originally going to be a 90-something story building, but they stopped at 20 stories for 1 year, due to airport restrictions. Then resumed construction a year later, stopping at 57 floors.

Seems to me that this was fairly innovative. I don't see us doing anything like that here. As to quality, we can sit on our rear ends and point at them and saying their stuff is poor quality. To go from poor quality to high quality really isn't that big of a step - merely stop taking bribes to use inferior concrete, etc. Perhaps we in the U.S. might want to stop and ponder, "can we do what we're doing, better?"
