Didn't say it was a great monitor - but you won't find a 19" LCD for under 200.00 new without mail in rebates etc. anywhere else that I know of......

Apparently, you didn't see the part about the $95 Mail-in Rebate.

Valid 1/3/2006 - 1/31/2006.
This rebate MUST be postmarked within 30 days of purchase.
This rebate is in US Dollars.

So to summarize, $95 MIR and this being from TigerDirect = NOT HOT

Isn't it pretty common to see people say that a deal is not hot when it's borderline? I agree I interpret the wording you posted the same as you. That said, if what us3 actually did is against the rules, that's pretty stupid.

If I wasn't that familiar with technology I'd want someone pointing out the not-so-great deals from the good ones.

My opinion: This is a borderline deal. We quite often see similar deals from companies that have better reputations than TigerDirect.com.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I bet those words were put in place for emotionally charged items that are religious/political (for example) in nature. Those can turn into nasty, stupid flame wars. Posting "NOT HOT" is generally helpful and at least leads to on-topic discussion of the deal.

I sort of see your point about maybe the intention of the rule being to protect the religious/political thread. But if someone just says "NOT hot" without backing up what they are saying, that seems like a thread crap to me. Maybe the poster could have said what wasn't hot or contributed something a little more meaningful, like where someone could buy the item for a better price.

OP, are you listing the 16ms response time as a warning?

I don't mean to crap on your suggestion, but I recently built a system for a client using that monitor. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." That monitor is crap! Out of the box, two dead pixels in the center of the screen. There were some occasions where horizontal lines were all over the screen and a reboot would fix it. I also changed the refresh rate to 75 hz and that seemed to fix the problem for now. The screen is also too polarized, the top part will be darker than the bottom even if you sat 3 feet away.

If I had to do it all over again, I would suggest my clients to put more money into a monitor. I've been using a Sony LCD 18.1" DVI for 5 years now with no problems (and it costs and arm and a leg). I'm sure there are lots of anti-Sony (anti-any big corporation) but I am just giving my personal experience.

Good luck and happy hunting.
