19" monitors

I'm looking to buy a nice 19" monitor. Anybody have any suggestions?

KDS v19SN (i have this its great for the price and shorttube) or the av19tf. Try samsung 900nf or 955df etc also. You know why i know this? There are 50 other posts asking the same thing.

Best way to know you'll like the monitor is to actually see it yourself. Expect to spend around $500 for the 19 inchers with good quality.

Shipping is brutal when it comes to monitors, so I prefer shopping at local stores. WHen your at the place that sells monitors.. you can look at the variety, and buy it there.

Well here I can't buy local:

Staple: Sony, and NEC. Both are over priced, and they only have 3 models of each, all in the value line.
Wal-Mart: MAG value, 15,17,19" but nothing on them so you can't compare. Also over priced
Local shops: Digi-view brand... 'nuff said. Maybe MAG.

That leaves me with mail order only. And since I can't see them first, I buy sony or viewsonic because I trust that they will be good.

Warrenton: Sonys for value? Wow, you must be hella rich. This is what I recommend for value:
Samsung SyncMaster 900NF, it can be had for under $400, it has a great AG tube with steller image quality and brightness, and it has an even higher resolution than Sony G400. It's got to be the best value 19" monitor.

That tells us KDS has possibly the best warranty policy in the business, and they use high quality Sony tubes for their Avitron line plus they have some of the lowest prices. E-Machines dont bundle KDS with their computers, E-Machines bundle their own E-Machine brand monitors, which I dont think was made by KDS.

Anyway, enough about KDS, personally I would only turn to KDS if Im totally broke. Otherwise Im going to opt for Sony/Mitsubishi or Samsung.

GS790? Oh come on, they look like crap. If you have to get ViewSonic get one of their FP series, but I would get Samsung/Mitsubishi over that anyway.

I will refrain from calling you uninformed.
BUT KDS is a partner in E-machines...
KDS monitors are E-machines....
I know you wouldn't buy one but I have and I won't again. I don't care about the warranty...I'm sick of sending them back. They may use Sony tubes but I'm not sure if they are first quality...as a matter of my experience they have little quality control...

I don't know why I never see anybody mention ADI monitors...I've got a G66, and I love it. Picture's great, short tube length, company has good repair/replacement policy (had a problem once, got a replacement within days, no hassle, prepaid shipping). Overall I'd highly recommend this monitor.

He asked for a NICE 19" so i recommended NICE. To me that signifies wanting the higher end of the spectrum. If he asked for a decent 19", that would have been different.

For the low price kds has for their very cheap monitors what kind of quality could you expect? Their highend models are very liked though.

Warrenton: Does "nice" necessarily have to translate to big, expensive and luxury brands? Absolutely not. Companies like KDS, Samsung, ADI and CTX all make NICE monitors and offering them at some much-lower-than-Sony prices.

Yeah I've seen monitors w/ Sony tubes. Very nice picture. I guess it's been a while since I last bought a monitor...back when I bought mine it was highly recommended. Then suddenly it just dissapeared off the "top 10" lists, etc. Just out of curiosity, does anybody know what brand of tube ADIs have?

if you dont have the money, go with the Samsung syncmaster 955DF
BTW, go to TECHDEALS, they have an awesome deal on the 955DF right now: $291 after rebates!!!!

or you can opt for a Mitsubishi Diamondtron, but the KDS is nice too.........

i would go with the G400 or the Samsung personally..........
