My local Staples is clearing out the 19" NEC Multisync MS97F for 219.98.
Throw in a $30 off coupon and the $40 NEC rebate and it's only $150 + tax.

Anyone want to comment on this monitor? Is this better/worse than
the KDS XF-9E?

None in stock in Central Florida. Got the floor model for $150. Unfortunately
no box or UPC for rebate.

Sorry for the repost.

These are going to be really hard to find- the deal was posted a while back here.

My store only had the display, so they sold it to me at 20% off, so...

219.99
- 44.00 20% off
= 175.99
- 30.00 off 150
= 145.99
- 40.00 rebate (they had the UPC in storage)
=105.99 plus tax

Several at FW are expressing displeasure with the monitor, but I am happy with it- took a lot of fiddling to get the geometry right and it clicks several times to change resolution for games, but it is very nice for the price.

Yesterday I wanted to get this deal at local Staples.... although they only had MS97F-BK ( black ) which is not $219 but $268... That for sure spoiled the deal but I took it anyway -$30 off coupon and the $40 NEC so it was about $200 not a hot deal at all... unless you like black color hardware.

I bought this monitor about 6 months ago. Got it for $180 AR/AC @ Staples. Great monitor. I'm almost considering picking this up so I can go w/ a dual setup.

Went out today and got it. Only had display model, go 10% off. But he did throw in the staples ext. 3 year warranty for free. I'm now enjoying this wonderful dual setup.

Got one a couple of nights ago for $109.61 (including tax) AR!!! It was a HUGH YMMV... and kind of funny. Here is what happened:

Saw two of them at clearance on Saturday but didn't know about the rebate or the coupon. One was tagged $197.90 and the other $157.90. Read this thread that night and went back to the store Monday night, and thought I would get one for $157.90 - $30 coupon - $40 rebate = $87.90 + tax!!!

Asked one of the managers and he said $157.90 was with the $40 rebate. So I walked to the other monitors and took a look. The manager came by later and asked if I had more question. We talked a little and then he said since that monitor was at clearance, he could take 10% off. I then showed him the coupon and asked if that would still work. He said he needed to check the price... 5 minutes later, he came back and said he could take 15% off + the coupon. "Is that okay?" he said. "Sure!" I said. When I took it out to my car, it almost didn't fit!

Final price: $197.90 - $29.69 (15%) - $30 + $11.40 (tax) - $40 rebate = $109.61!

I do have one complaint about this display though. The top edge of the screen is compressed a little and I could not fix it with any settings. I'm running 1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hz in Win2K using ATI All-in-Wonder 128 Pro. I tried other resolutions and refresh rates and it is about the same. I'm thinking about exchanging it but it is a big hassle.

Quality control on the NEC/Mitsubishi monitors over the past few years has become very poor. YMMV.

I agree. I have changed my monitor Accusync AS95F a couple of times already and it is still not the way it ought to be. I am too tired to do it anymore.

Price drops even more now. I got one today for $131 minus $40 rebate, so total is $91 after rebate. Add $20.00 more to get $30.00 off coupon.

I got

131.50 monitor
+ 12.94 CDR (sony)
+ 9.99 Photo paper (staple)
+ 10.27 tax
total 164.70
- 30.00 coupon (30 off 150)
- 40.00 monitor rebate (expired 4/12/03)
- 10.00 CDR rebate

total $84.70 is not really bad at all for 19" Flat Screen Monitor.

You might have good luck getting this price matched at Circuit City if your Staples is OOS. A year ago I wanted to pich this up for $180. They only had white though and I wanted black in color. I went down to CC, asked for a price match, and got it in black. It's an excellent monitor, and for $100 a great deal if you can get it that low.

At my local Staples they still have it for $269.00. How can you price match such a low price when all I see is that price local and web? This is in the Oralndo area. Is there any way to get a reciept so Staples can price match their own clearence price? Thanks, Marko

The cheap one is not the black one. Some store still have price tag at $157 AR, but if you have them scan the price will come out as $131 - $40 MR. I got this one in Carson city, CA. The first store I went to show price tag at $91.50 AR, but OOS (in fountain valley). So I went back to Carson which I know there is one in stock, price tag here still show at $157 AR so I ask them to scan and it come up to be $91.50 AR.

Good luck finding yours, at least 3 stores I know in SoCal that is out of stock. You might be able to have them sell your the display ones, tho.

BTW, this price is only in store, you cannot find it in the web. I know becuz the guy at first store tried to order from website for me and he can't find it either.

How does this rate with my FE950+'s? I understand these are lower quality but how much lower?

I only need it for 3rd computer purposes so the quality has to be decent but not critical. Bah I am running out of desktop real estate though. 3x 19" monitors has left me with no workspace on my desk

What OS, resolution, and refresh rate do you run yours at? I'm disappointed with the display's quality. I exchanged it once and it is better, but still slightly compresses at the top edge and some flickering at the bottom right corner. Wavy lines on the background as well. Easiest to see with dark desktop like the Win2K standard navy blue. I'm going to exchange again for another one. Even I got it at a good price ($109.61 including tax), it really bothers me.

I'm running Win2K, 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz. Changing resolution and refresh rate didn't help. My first display was rev. A.5 and the second is rev. A.2. Tech support said they would exchange it for free (including shipping) within the first 30 days if the store won't (Staples only has a 14-day period).

I got the same problem flickering around corner of bottom right. What video card and PSU are you using in your system? This doesn't happened only with NEC but my old HP monitor as well. A lot of ppl got this problem with their ATI care (AIW 9700 PRO and others). I am not sure but I think I saw this flickering after I replace PSU to Antec True Power.

I have a Power Comtec (by PowerRex) that came with the no name case. I do have an ATI AIW 128 Pro. The flickering isn't that bad on this second one, but the compression and wavy lines annoy me the most.

From Ollie, same forum, different thread:
odoe, if you get lucky there's a SUPER hot deal on an NEC mS97F monitor at Staples. Not sure if it's listed in hotdeals here or on the chubby wallet forums. It's a YMMV type deal but really hot. I got it for ~$75 AC/AR.

I PM'd him to share, hopefully he will, but it seems peeps are already getting prices around $80. Hot Shizzle!
