Samsung 900nf -$395
Sony G400 - $452
Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 451 - $570
I've heard great things about all three monitors, most of all the VisionMaster. I'd like to get the opinions of you guys as to which monitor you'd choose, and whether the price premium of the sony or iiyama are warranted. I haven't actually seen any of these monitors.

Yeah, if you got the cash, go with the Visionmaster. IF not, go with the samsung. I have the Sony G400 and i love it too, so, it's a hard descision.

I recently got an iiYama i90A for about 500 bucks shipped. I also liked the Sony model but I am very happy with the iiyama. VERY flat screen and great color. I haven't compared them side by side but the iiyama is great, and cheaper than what I saw for the sony G400 shipped. You won't lose either way!

I'd go for either the Samsung 900NF or the NEC FE950 if price is your concern (in this week's staples flier, the FE950 is $350 after $100 rebate, I believe). GOod max res. too

i bought the 900nf and I freaking love it. I can't praise it enough.. but if you're rich get the g400/g500, they have teh g500 on the avid video suites at the school and they are so beautiful. or wait and get the g450/g550 that are coming out shortly.

Where can you get a Samsung 900NF for $395? Does that include shipping/warranty? I am looking for a $400 or less monitor at the moment, so I would be greatful for the help. (I am finally getting to build a new system. Years of waiting and hoping are finally over!)

Yeah, scdavis0, where you can get the Samsung 900NF for $395! Is that shipped and from what store? And is that before or after Samsung's $30 rebate?

d33pt, is that 22" Iiyama still available at that price? I'm sorta partial to Iiyama as the 17" I'm using right now is an 1991 Iiyama MF-5217 model. Cost a pretty penny back then.

$395 is most definitely before shipping, and is just some number I pulled off of pricewatch.

Having both the Sony and the VisionMaster 451, I would DEFINITELY recommend the IIYama. its a superior monitor overall. I must say, I really enjoy the VisionMasters USB hub, dual monitor wiring, and microphone jack. not to mention the beautiful color depth and vibrancy.

a WARNING about the Sony---many users are complaining about discoloration of the bottom left corner of the screen after extended use. Sony has even grudgingly admitted that certain manufactured units exhibit this problem. (Mine doesn't, thank God--my friend wasn't so lucky)

Incidentally the IIyama I90A exhibits the exact same vibrancy and color-depth, but doesn't come with the USB hub, or a refresh rate quite as high. If money is a concern, choose the IIyama I90A over the Sony.

Staples has the NEC FE950 on sale for $100 MIR off. That's $450 -$100 -$30 (any of various $30 coupons) = $320. They didn't have the MIR paperwork so they gave me an instant $100 rebate. They deducted the $130 before computing the tax so I saved a few more bucks too. Out the door = $345.58.

Now gotta decide which nephew gets the 17" Iiyama.
