The four buttons in the center shaped like a cross:
Depress either the top or the bottom button and hold.
Amenu for contrast and brightness will appear you can then make the adjustment.

Do not use the Menue button first as this is a seperate and single menu option.

valid as long as the rebate (mid july I think) and as long as U can find a PM site and a coupon. you may have to call multiple times to get something PM'd AND use a coupon on it.

VSK -

I have used the Staples packing slip in lieu of a receipt for rebates literally DOZENS of times with no problems. This one, however, apparently coming from Ingram, arrived with no price on the pack slip so I sent Staples support an email asking for a receipt.

Got a message back from them this AM saying the pack slip IS their receipt and the manufacturer (Samsung) will accept it with no problem. Rebate going out in the mail today.

Couldn't believe the delivery time on this order. Placed order early evening Thursday, 6/6 by phone and was told delivery on 6/13. Had a dental appointment on Friday, 6/7, and when I got back home there was a sticker from UPS saying they had tried to deliver a package that had to be signed for and would try again on Monday. They delivered it at 11 AM yesterday!

I live in SE Virginia and the packing slip says the Samsung was shipped from Santa Ana, CA. Guess matter transmission has finally been invented.

As far as rebate it is a long shot anyway, because of 4 reasons:
1. Rebate house is TCA - worse in industry.
2. Because Staples is not paticipated retailer
3. There is no price on packing slip.
4. Rebate house is TCA will make sure you will not get your money back because above mentioned reasons,
so if you guys buying that monitor because of rebate, return it ASAP

SUGGESTIONS: taken from vsk's linky:

I have one of those 4'x6' tack boards in my home office and simply make a copy and tack up all the rebate nfo on the wall.. When it comes in I toss the copies... Works well for me.. I usually have 2 or 3 out at any given time and simply nag the rebate company and/or the manufacturer if it is more than 60 days...

My RBA is about 99%. Have only 1 outstanding and I know that I will get it. It was already issued to a wrong address
and they have to reissue it. Have done a good fifty rebates.

I keep copies of EVERYTHING that I send in and bug the rebate houses when my submitted rebates seem to be getting old. Have only been rebating about a year now and have done about 50.00 deals. For a while I slowed down a little (nothing else I needed to buy) but recently I was asked by a neighbor to build a machine and fix another one so I have been busy scouting for deals with rebates. Scored several good ones yesterday and today ... all at Staples who takes my coupon readily.

The system works for me. Not perfectly since I sometimes have to write to the "Office of the President" to get action. If that does not elicit any response then its a letter to the legal department citing their violation of my contract with them and my intention of taking them to small claims court. Sue for the amount plus other costs. Legal will step in and make Marketing Dept take action.

My system. Keep copies. Write the amount due and date sent on the copies in big letters. When the rebate comes back I simply move the copies from the pending folder to the paid folder. Simple but effective. I can program but wouldn't waste
my time. It is easier and more convenient to use my suggested method.

vsk we're both editorializing here, but I just wanted to post the actual quote from that thread on the bounced checks:
TCA calls Mr. Kuehnel's experience "a fluke," and says the company accidentally bounced 200 checks last month because of a technical glitch. The company has promised to re-issue all checks.

yes, they did bounce some...but not b/c they're going out of business or denying rebates forever now or anything.

Thanks for the heads up though vsk! To be honest, I didn't really read that thread...saw it, never even ENTERED it...but I read it ALL the way through now...and I think that it's in our best interest to just keep good records and watch for some more hot dealios! If a person doesn't want to risk a rebate DON'T! Wait for a hot dealio that doesn't involve one... you maybe waiting a while

Samsung Rebates Complains

just a picks:

To: Samsung Electronics America, Inc.

I wanted to bring a problem to your attention and hope you can help me gain some satisfaction. Specifically, my complaint concerns customer service. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated because this incident has made me extremely upset.

For your reference, the model name or number in question is SyncMaster 955DF. Here's my problem: I bought a SyncMaster 955DF monitor on 8/31/01 and mailed in for a $40 rebate on 9/28/01. Called on 4/5/02 was told check was sent 9/27/01 but was returned by post office. I was told another check would be sent on that day 4/5/02. By 5/2/02 I had not received check called 800-578-8883 was told I would have to wait 90 days to call back to request another check be sent. I had planned to buy a Samsung cell phone but will not unles I get my rebate.

Here's how you can help: Just send me my $40 rebate its in your computer system because every time I call they have my information.

My overall experiences with your company have left me extremely unhappy. I probably will no longer be a customer of your company. Also, I probably won't recommend you to others.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I hope you will address this concern.

Samsung didn't honor rebate offer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To: Samsung Electronics America, Inc.

I wanted to bring a problem to your attention and hope you can help me gain some satisfaction. Specifically, my complaint concerns customer service. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated because this incident has made me fairly upset.

For your reference, the model name or number in question is SyncMaster 955DF monitor. Here's my problem: I purchased this Samsung monitor on Sept. 24, 2001. There was a $40 rebate form on the Samungmonitor.com web site for purchases made between 7/1/01 and 9/30/01. The request had to be postmarked by 10/30/01. I printed the rebate form and immediately sent in the correct documentation per the instructions on the rebate form. The form said to go to the Wheresmyrebate.com if I had not received my rebate after 10 weeks. I went to the Wheresmyrebate.com site several times to check on my rebate and it didn't show up each time I checked. It is now Feburary and I still have yet to receive my rebate.

In addition, the registration form was so confusing to me. I finally figured out how to register this monitor for the supposedly 3 yr. warranty on the web-site.

Here's how you can help: First of all, I would like my rebate. Secondly, as there was no documentation about the warranty, I would like to know what it covers.

My overall experiences with your company have left me somewhat unhappy. I will not recommend you to others, if you do not honor your rebate offers.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I hope you will address this concern.

you know how when a tornado comes through a town and the Big City News crews come in to interview all the people and talk to them about their ravaged homes and all the terrible noises and all the loss of life and how terrible it had all been... you know how the seem to pick the single MOST moronic person in the ENTIRE city? You know what I mean? COMPLETE idiot... anyway...let us analyze this a 'bit more closely:

1. mailed rebate 9/28/01 and the rebate office SENT the check on 9/27/01??? yeah...I don't think so. Either this d00d is ignorant or the rebate office fed him a line more laden w/ crap than the usual "we lost it" line.
2. This d00d waite SIX MONTHS to call and ask about his rebate! PLEASE people! c'mon! if you're actually concerned about the rebate, call SIX WEEKS after you send it!!!!

This guy needs to wake up or something...man... how could anyone who seriously wanted a rebate let it go that long? I can't believe that he even had the initiative to write the letter...

Somebody looking for a "Rebate Specialist" Sorry I'm late.

I have done 3 Samsung rebates over the past year, two on the 753DF and one on the 955DF. I received the 753DF rebates without a problem. I recently ordered the 955DF from Dell and it is for the current Samsung rebate so it is still outstanding.

As far as rebate it is a long shot anyway, because of 4 reasons:
1. Rebate house is TCA - worse in industry.

> I'm not sure if it is the worst (I think ExpressGroup / Walled Lake is the worst) but TCA can be a pain to deal with.
2. Because Staples is not participating retailer
> Where did you see or hear this? I listed the Samsung rebate / promotion web page URL below plus a quote from the page with requirements and don't see any list of participating dealers. As best I can tell, the verbiage on the rebate form about "offer valid at participating resellers..." is a generic statement to indicate that not all resellers will give you a rebate form if you purchase the monitor from them. You could call TCA to see if purchasing from Staples qualifies, but, I don't trust anything any rebate center CSR tells me.
3. There is no price on packing slip.
> They should take the packing slip as a receipt but I always make sure by including a copy of my online receipt which you can easily get from your account at Staples.com
4. Rebate house is TCA will make sure you will not get your money back because above mentioned reasons,
so if you guys buying that monitor because of rebate, return it ASAP

> There is always a chance that TCA will try to screw you but if you keep copies of everything you send, you should be ok. Just be sure to follow up on the rebate and complain to Samsun and Staples if you do not receive it. I sent my 955DF rebate form on 5/13 and received an email on 5/24 stating that my $50 rebate has been approved.

http://www.samsungusa.com/monitor (Click "Promotions" on left side of page)

HOW DO I GET A SYNCMASTER REBATE??

Fill out the Rebate Form you receive from the retailer you purchased the monitor, or from Netbate (see links above). Please be sure to fill in the Model No., Serial No. and e-mail address.

Send the original white UPC Bar Code from the monitor box along with the completed Rebate Form and a copy of the original monitor receipt or invoice (No purchase orders are accepted. Please see copy of a sample Bar Code below.) Mail all of the above together within the time frame noted on the Rebate Form. The Rebate Form, UPC Bar Code and receipt must all pertain to the same product. Please save a copy of all the documents you send in, to keep for your records.

Rebates are available under the following conditions:

For purchases in the U.S. (50 states, DC only);

Must be a resident of the U.S.;

Rebate checks must be sent to a residence and not to a P.O. Box;

Limited to a maximum of one (1) model per address; and

Samsung employees, agencies, resellers, distributors and resellers are not eligible for a rebate

UPDATE: Here is a post from StacyB in the 955DF thread over at FW

Hey, for anyone who may have been concerned like I was about then honoring the rebate with it being purchased anywhere, I wrote to Samsung and they confirmed it could. Yay!!!

Well, I know where the rebate offer is, I was just asking if it had to be at one of the participating retailers, or if it would be purchased anywhere. The rebate fulfillment says it can be ,just wanted to confirm that was correct.

Now, there's some of the BEST advice I've heard in a LONG time!
I always make sure by including a copy of my online receipt which you can easily get from your account at Staples.com
Thanks for the idea...I'll make sure to do that!

Gang,

Well my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro monitor's power supply died. So I really need this monitor. Went to My staples, placed an in store order for it, printed it out, Brought the $190 ad to the Manager and asked to pricematch. He said it will take 24 hours to check it out. I didn't put the $40 coupon on the order to complicate matters. Hopefully, I will find out tomorrow if they will do it. Then get the $40 off at the end. Otherwise I will have to do the phone game.

Will report back..

This stuff is cheaper/easier to come by for me than $$$ is b/c I only have a part time job...and bills to pay... so for me it's worth it right now to do rebates and play the game

In a game, the players are supposedly prepared before they get there. when I come in the game as a player I practice by looking @ who the opponent is, how well prepared they are, their track record, other players track records with them and the "films" or experiences that other members have had w/ them and how to WIN over them. In this case...I AND LANYAP a CHAMPION @ this game have already outlined an EASY practice to win against this "team." So, insomuch as you've practiced are your chances against a foe such as TCA...

BRING IT ON TCA! I love a good challenge

vsk:why you so pessimistic... seems like most of your replies are complaints. i mean we paid $140 for a monitor. it's not the best but it's still a great deal for $140. that's why we bought it. so let's try to be happy about our purchases and move on.

Well, my monitor arrived and I think it looks beautiful for the price... my only problem is that I have a lot of "shimmy" in the image between 70-85Hz vertical refresh rates... not sure what to make of that. 60 is too low to be comfortable in white background office aps and well, 90 is a bit higher than I'm used to. oh well, great deal for me. hate to thread bash, but I got in on this deal, and my final price would have been $143... but I have to agree with the other "negative" people... I have spent a few hours trying to adjust everything, and it still hurts my eyes. The text is also grainy and not full, I tried all of the suggestions mentioned in this thread and in the FW thread

I upgraded from a 17" Vivitron, and my wife has a 17" Viewsonic.. both are much crisper and "Easier on the eyes" than this one.....

What do you guys think of the Viewsonic E90? And for $100 more, the G90? I'm going to call Staples.com to return this and order another one from there.

Thanks!

FastEddieG, looked at your system, you are using a gf2 mx, of course the text is bad. Hook up your monitor to your server's matrox and compare the two. Anyway, start a topic in Video section if you guys are having problems with the 955df, it's most likely a video card problem.

About the rebate, i got an email from wheresmyrebate.com saying it has been approved (bought in Dell), but i can't search my rebate status in the database. I emailed them twice but they didn't reply me with anything. Anyone is having the similar situation?

I'm in LA. I phone ordered ther monitor Thursday. They said this coming Friday via UPS. i was wondering others mentioned how quicly they got their monitors. Any of you guys in LA?

My Uncle has the 950 and loves it. the 955 is the next step up so I'm hoping it will at least be as good as his.
