I've called CDW and they have verified that these are brand new @$239 shipped. They did not have anything of similar item on clearance.

However, is this monitor convincingly superior to the Samsung 955DF? From searches on this question from past threads it does hint yes; but it also has some cons e.g. 1/8" black border (i.e. can not extend picture view to the end of frame on all four sides).

yes, this monitor is much better than the Samsung 955DF. The appropriate Samsung monitor to compare to would be the 900NF.

This monitor is QUITE superior to the Samsung 955 and is also nicer than the NEC FE950. I have had all of these at one time or another and there is nothing in this price range that comapres to this right now.

yes, this monitor is much better than the Samsung 955DF. The appopriate Samsung monitor to compare to would be the 900NF.

The Samsung 955df does even come close to the 900NF in refresh rate.

If you have the $$$, get the Compaq P910 or Samsung 900NF. You can't skip on high refresh rate if you spend a lot of time on the computer. Make sure you set it at 85Mhz or higher.

Ok, how does this compare to a TRINITRON? is it comparable? is a trinitron at all better? this seems like a pretty amazing deal. my in laws have a gateway with a diamondron tube, and it looks great, but I think I like trinitrons better at times, sometimes not as much... for some reason on these diamond trons, the lines are not as visible in my opinion

Is there anyway to get that compaq badging off?

Yes! This is for the exact same monitor! You dont believe me? Call up the number now and dial the extension, you'll get John's voicemail that tells you what hours he will be in. It's a freakin toll free call. My monitor had shipped already so I couldnt take advantage of the deal. I found it while browsing FW, just do a search on "compaq" over there, scroll down a little, and you'll see the thread.

Look, if you think it's too good to be true, just call the guy up tomorrow. I'm just trying to make this deal flaming hot that's all. Dont try to ruin the deal by calling other CSRs though, the monitor will ship the same day anyways, so just call him up tomorrow morning.

ahhh interesting..I may have to jump on this... a few people over at fw have also echoed my concern that ' nothing beats a trinitron ' is trinitron truly a better picture? ive seen some trinitrons that I think are awsome, and then my brother in law just got a dell branded trinitron, that while it was great, I was slightly dissapointed in.....

The $190 is for a B stock one that doesn't have the 3 year advance replacement warranty. If you get a dumb enough CS rep, you might luck out in getting a pricematch. But I would not order the $190 bstk model.

This is a great monitor. I replaced my 17inch 753df samsung with it and i could be happier. It is great for the money and the picture is superb. I would recomend this anyone who needs or wants a new monitor.

shipping to MI is only 16$ ground.. is it better to go with fed ex ground, or ups ground? 3 day jumps up to 30$ so ill stick with ground I think

fedex ground is better imo, UPS ground waits the maximum #of days allowed to deliver.

I think there's a little confusion going on on the $190 monitor. Yesterday if youserach form P910 two models came up. One is the $219 model, the other is a B-stock $190 model (Actually it's coming up at $180 now). What Benchiu is saying might be that he was able to get the $219 model down to $190. But I've ordered mine already so I am not complaining. I think he's also saying that once it has been invoiced, John can't change the price. Diamondtron is basically Trinitron. Mitsubishi copied it when Sony's patent period ran out. Diamondtron actually is neck to neck r even better thank Sony sometimes.


On pricegrabber, It's ~$540 for this model. I have no idea how cdw is getting them so cheap.
