I know its been asked 100x but is it necessary to uninstall old drivers, reboot and install new ones? Or can I just install the new ones over the old ones?

I usually uninstall, reboot, install but that is kind of annoying.

???

Yeah, that is what I would suggest. Better safe then sorry. You don't have to go to the extent of using driver cleaner or safe mode and any such nonsense anymore tho.

I always just install the new drivers over my old drivers without any issue yet. The only time I have completely removed and used driver cleaner etc. is when I am switching between ATI and Nvidia.

has anyone tried these yet?

I'm having problems with them installing on three systems (gtx260, 9600gso, and 8800gt) with vista 64 ultimate.
just sits for awhile and then install says that "installation has been completed, but no changes have been made to my system." and the drivers weren't installed.

They are working flawlessly on Windows 7 X64. 8800GT

I can confirm that they didn't resolve the alt-tabing under Windows 7 64bit. Bummer...

Hey, I wonder if this contains the fix on a bug report I filed? Had to do with running Quad-SLI and a separate PhysX card.

Some of the highlights for win7 users ( not sure what applies to vista as I don't use it), looks like they addressed some of the complaints people were having that were using win7 as a htpc player.

? Digital Audio page
?After resizing  the HDTV desktop, the new resolution created is now added
to the list of available resolutions for that display, and also added to the
resolution list within the game or application

?The controls in the Manage Custom Resolutions page are now located in the
Change Resolution page.
Video & Television Pages
?The following pages and controls have been moved to the Display category:

This is wonderful. I saw the once-dreaded "Display driver stopped working and.. " pop up for the first time in a.. very long time. This happened after installing ForceWare 190 on Vista 64. And I can't play any of my Blu-Ray disc using PowerDVD. I reverted back to the 185 and it didn't fix it. I'm going crazy here.

I installed on both Win7 RC 64-bit and Vista 32-bit w/ a 9800 GX2. San Andreas no longer starts; on either OS. I click the icon, the cursor changes to a reading disk thingy and nothing happens.

I reverted back to the 186.18 driver... works fine now. Keep up the great work nvidia!

I got that too ( with both 190 and 186.18) - at stock speeds. Didn't happen with 181.20. Might have to revert back to 181.20, but the perf difference is not insignificant.

Damn nVidia.. I always believed they have superior drivers to ATi. Maybe I was wrong.

I've just reported a bug that has plagued me for a while, and in this version it's not fixed either.
I have a DVI monitor and a TV on the s-video TV out...
The control panel gets confused when you change resolutions... Then I no longer see the TV, it only shows the monitor... however, the settings it shows are my TV settings, not the settings of the monitor.

Took two days to fix my main system. I won't go into details (uninstall, reinstall, system restore,.. nothing worked) but it suffices to say that it was a horrible experience. Thankfully I did a manual backup of whole system not too long ago so I was able to recover my system.

I've got the "Display driver stopped working and recovered" message as well as various error messages in due course. (including something like this) And the ForceWare reported my system as not being capable of handling HDCP, and PowerDVD also refused to play any Blu-Ray movies.

I read the release note and it specifically mentions how my monitor (HP LP3065) is supported along with other 30" panels. Riiiiiiiight.

I admit that I was stupid to try it out the day the drivers were out. I believe in "don't fix it unless it's broken" when it comes to drivers, but obviously I wasn't thinking. Lesson learned, again.

On a related note, this incident has greatly expanded my already-huge disgust towards DRM and everything that comes with it. I am sorry to say this to content creators, but my patience is wearing thin with all the troubles I've been through over the years as a legitimate customer of all kinds of intellectual properties. I am on the verge.

I think I'll wait before installing another great nvidia driver release.
Sounds like more fools 'gold standard' drivers from Nvidia.

i have no issues... in fact i can't remember the last time I had driver issues other than the very minor far cry 2 sunken "road debris" issue with mid 08 Ati drivers.

Some people "always" have driver issues while others almost never do.
