I thought this was happening for some time, so i thought id check properly and have use the ATI Tray Tools monitoring graph, and throughout the whole time of playing a game the Core Clock and Memory Clock never rose up from 500mhz and 1200mhz. They are supposed to be 620 and 1440.

Anyway i can fix this or anyone know the problem?

Im using Cat 7.4s

Also, the card only switches to 3D mode when running a fullscreen app. If you were running a game in a window, then it will not switch.

Older versions of ATI Tool and ATI Tray Tools required it to be disabled. Let me see if mine is enabled.

Just dling the newest version. Or it might be the monitoring graph not showing the right clocks, would there be a sure way of finding out.

Also i just used ATI Tray Tools to overclock everything to the right 3D clocks but it did the VPU Recover, everything went blank so i had to start the PC again. Would that be because of the Hot Key Poller or is my GPU borked for some reason?

The Hotkey Poller is a driver feature, it controls the card via software. The reason ATT did not OC correctly is probably because you didn't set the card to a higher voltage. In 3D mode, the core voltage should be 1.4v, in 2D mode it about 1.2v

Ahh right, so should i just diable the Hot Key Poller and just oc my card to the 3D clocks and leave it at that?

Ok i havent tested it but i think im being a bit of an idiot, in msconfig i have a selective start up as i dont like my task manager being cluttered up and i think i disabled it in there forgetting what it was supposed to be doing.

I think it should be working fine now, just gonna test it!

The version of ATT I am using, it requires the hotkey poller to be disabled in order to overclock. At the end of the installation it asked me if I wanted to disable the hotkey poller or I wouldnt be able to OC. I suspect that when you're installing ATT if it asks you to do that, then you need to do it. If not, then leave it alone.

Once you get ATT running, go to overclock settings and save the 2D profile as the default profile. 500/1200 1.2v and whatever fan settings u want. Then, change the voltage to 1.4v, apply, then change the clock speeds to 620/1440. Set the fan settings to whatever u want and then save the profile as "3D" or something.

Now that you have a 2D and 3D profile, go to auto overclocking and set the 3D profile for 3D apps and the 2D profile as the default.
