1905fp & 2005fpw backlight comparison

I have a 2005fpw at home for personal use and a 1905fp at work. When I do a backlight test for the 1905 it is pitch black, you would almost think that the monitor is off. When I do the same for the 2005fpw, the whole screen is aglow, there?s no bleeding from the edges but the screen is brighter.

Has anybody else had this experience with comparing the two monitors? Is this normal for the 2005fpw?

Two things

#1. Different panel types from different companies were used in those Dell monitors. The 1905 is a MVA/PVA type which is characterized by a very dark black. The 2005 uses an IPS panel. These panels do not produce the deepest blacks.

#2. A very tricky thing is ensuring that ambient light is similar in both locations. This probably is making the difference seem greater that it truely is...
