Better yet, it supposed to have a USB Hub, DVI with HDCP, 5ms response time, Composite and S-Video.
Umm, no. Re-read the article. No USB hub, composite or s-video hookups.

very nice, very very nice.

i have a 24 at work, but i never use any of the extras on it since i have lcd's on either side of the 24 as well, so there's no room to mess with the extras.

Who actually uses these features on their monitor?

I do. I've got a combo dvd/vcr in my room which I use as a tuner and to play dvd's. The tuner/vcr comes in through the composite and the dvd comes in through the svideo. I also use the USB hub for my wireless mouse receiver, flash card reader and any usb sticks since the front ports on my case are bad. I also use the vga port if I have a second pc I'm working on or setting up, so that I only need one monitor. And lastly, you can do picture in picture with the svideo and composite ports, so I can watch tv or a movie while I chat on AIM. Works pretty darn good. I've got the 2005FPW btw.

Any chance this will drive the prices down on the 2407's? I'd love to pick one of those up for under $500.

Ditto, I have my game systems hooked up to those ports.

Good things come to those who wait. I was looking at an old invoice earlier this week and saw that I paid $541 for a Dell 1800FP four years ago. It turns out I'll be paying less than $200 net for the Samsung 215TW I bought last month. I actually wanted a 2407FP but I decided that the 215TW will have to tide me over for a couple of years

I use s-video and composite on my 2005fpw to play video games PS2/xbox. My old TV is broken.

GT4 on Dell LCD
RE4 on Dell LCD
DOA XBV on Dell LCD

Waiting for the 2407wfp to drop under $500, and I'll get to use Component on that to play console ganes on.

But I think this is good for Dell to offer something lower priced for people who don't need those features, and be able to compete against other manufactures. They used to be much more expensive than Dell, but recently have passed Dell in pricing. Dell cannot afford to class themselves like Apple as a premium brand.

My guess is large LCD prices will come down fast once DLP products hit.

The only advantage LCD has over DLP is about 4" thickness.

Any info on whether this is an 8-bit or a 6-bit panel? I'm betting because of the low response time that it's a 6-bit.

Are DLP monitors only possible with rear projection and front projection TV's? I know how DLP works in these types of TV's. Because of the nature of those screens I wonder if there are any flat panel DLP devices in development?

My gut says this will use one of those 6-bit panels. We'll see. Maybe they'll surprise us.
