The manual has no reference to color reproduction anywhere in the specs. Why are they trying to hide this info?

I believe it's 6-bit. We got 7 of these at the office today. We have two other 2007FPW's (one being on my desk) in the office, and a sky image displayed on one of the 207WFP's shows banding, but is fine on my 2007FPW.

If you can afford it, I'd definitely go for the 2007FPW over the 207WFP - things like the adjustable base (rotation and height), nicer enclosure (silver trim looks a nicer than plain black), what seems like slightly higher quality cables, better viewing angle, 8-bit colour vs 6-bit, usb hub and extra inputs make it worth it.

[edit]hrm, scratch the certainty that it's a 6-bit panel. Viewed the image on another one and it was okay (ie. no banding). The previous computer must have not been set up for full color[/edit]

i got a 1907fp for work today and must say i'm so disappointed. i've been looking to get an lcd for ~2 months and just don't see it happening after this experience. the bads:

- tearing in games & problem supporting 1024x768 on older ones (dvi)
- eye-strain [from 75hz refresh?] any out there with at least 85hz???
- blacks that don't cut it
- low 24-bit colors, which is noticeable to me

i'm back to my iiyama vision master pro, which is perfect for the precision i need it to support. i heard good things about the samsung 940b/2040b and viewsonic vp930b (vp191b sucessor but haven't seen them -- my friend has the vp171b and i can't believe that was deemed a good monitor  )

what lcd out there is PERFECT for both graphics and games?

the dell 2005fpw.

I'm wanting to buy one of those, but trying to get feedback on these new E207WFP screens before i buy.

Getting mixed reviews so far.

Well mine came earlier and I must say I am very pleased. I looks amazing and everything is very crisp. So much more desk space now both on the screen and off.

Piktar

I did a white to black gradiant(1680x1050) in Photoshop and did see banding. It wasn't too visible from the seating postion but when I leaned in and got close it was definitely there. It also seemed to have a red hue to it but I was on the red scale so that could have been it.

There is visible back light bleed on black/dark backgrounds:

Gaming wise WOW looks amazing as well as HL2. I have noticed some flicker but I believe it is because my current setup is having a really hard time pushing the native rez. Currently I have :
Unlocked 6800nu(128mb)
1gb PC3200
2500+ Athlon @ 2.2ghz

I've got new parts coming is so in the next week or so(baring any last minute purchases or swaps) I should have:
7900GTO
1gb PC3200
FX-55

Over all I love it and I'll try to keep this post updated with my findings.

Ive been waiting for Dell to release something in my price budget.
Probably going to order two once I get my SB credit account
approved. The backlight bleeding does have me a little worried,
though it something Im willing to risk for the price. I may just
wait around for Rev. 2 but IM ready to get rid of this clunky CRT.

Quite possibly because it's 6-bit.

Too bad no usb, composite or s-video

Who actually uses these features on their monitor?

Err, I do. I have the 2005FPW and the USB ports located on the bottom and side are very convenient. So this way I can plug in 4 USB 2.0 devices and only take up 1 USB 2.0 port on the PC, plus you don't need to worry as much about wires not reaching all the way to the PC itself.

I have a memory card reader, a webcam, a dock for the dell axim, and my ipod cable linked to the monitor.

Admittedly I don't relaly use the S-Video or Composite much, I did test it out a few times, although generally speaking I don't have much use for those.

Now if it had component...

I also watched some video and that looked great as well.

Is the stand adjustable, does it raise and rotate ?

No, the stand is not adjustable.

As for my two cents, I ordered a few of these for work and was pleasantly surprised by the image quality. Apparently I don't have as discerning tastes as some, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal.
