building a pc for a friend or relative is not worth it...the inevitable slew of questions and problems make me tell people to go with a dell, however this $199 pc seems pretty decent for email, viewing pics and other things. i know people that still chug along with p166 and are doing fine.

Not everyone has the needs of the people on this board...people killing this PC have no clue of real world needs, statements like office programs will have a problem or the cyrix cpu sux don't get it...just cuz your pc does something 5 secs quicker doesn't mean a normal person won't wait the 5 secs and save a grand...

I agree. And the rest of you people need to get your facts together:

• - The $199 PC is strictly for email/web. Noone is going to BUY MS office even for this PC. No mp3 encoding/3D games. No power stuff

• - For strictly integer stuff, Samuel 2 is AS FAST AS celeron clock per clock. some actual FACTS for you complainershere

To conclude: for the intended audience of people like grandma, who don't install apps, this computer will DO FINE.
