Hey all -

So I'm thinking about grabbing a 19inch LCD to run with my current 19inch CRT for some dual screen goodness.

Basically I've been doing a ton of research and I'm down to this -
(canadian prices, don't suggest newegg, etc etc)
The Hyundai L90D+ for $461
or
The Samsung 915N for $430

What it comes down to is, is the DVI worth 30 bucks?? What is the better monitor as they both use the same samsung pannel. This questions seems to come up a lot between these two specific monitors, what does everybody think?

I'm a big gamer so the 6 panel instead of 8 doesn't matter to me and I'm set on one of these two monitors.

No difference between DVI and VGI-DVI adapter for LCD's to be honest.

The price is what did it for me, and the almost flawless performance, minus a hard cap resolution ratio

you sure there's no difference, well according to THIS. Read the 4th paragraph which states:

The second myth is that analog VGA is just as sharp as DVI on today?s monitors thanks to today?s improved analog- to digital converters. This is a false statement perpetuated by well-intentioned but inexperienced reviewers. They?re well-intentioned because they?re trying to help you save money by saying that there?s no big difference ? they?re hoping that there?s no difference. We want to help you save money too ? but instead of telling you to go with a lower-quality but lower-priced monitor that?ll need upgrading in a one or two years, we want to help you find the right monitor so that you only need to buy it once and not have to upgrade for another 5+ years.

The perfect thread!!!

But seriously, I was just about to ask whether I should go to www.dell.com and buy a 2005FPW 20.1" widescreen monitor for gaming over the Hyundai L90D+.

915n. I use it over a 2005fpw for gaming.

This comment alone makes me want to stop looking at the Dell 2005FPW monitor altogether. That and I've heard some horror stories with it not having the backlight properly aligned in a bunch from last December.

The one thing I want to bring up before I finalize my system with the Hyundai L90D+:
Will the native resolution of 1280x1024 impact my gaming performance with an nVidia 7800GTX? Some say I should get a 1600x1200 to get the best quality, but if 1280x1024 is perfect, I can get higher framerates anyways. Right now I use 1024x768 almost exclusively for gaming because my CRT monitor has weird refresh rates at modes above this.

Well, I think I'll be very happy with the Hyundai, but it would be nice to hear just one more person agree before I finalize my system.

Thanks, sorry to kind of steal the focus of this thread.

granted, i know nothing of the dell monitor, but my L90d+ is the best money i've ever spent on any computer component. It's an amazing monitor.

I am sooo close to ordering one of those puppies. Thanks for the input on a monitor I've been considering.
