Went back to the same store, with that #24443516, WDBBRTL 30 gigs, and nothing, they have a 20 gigs for $80.00.

Thanks anyways, you should try to buy more and sell them for a small profit.

According to my local Office Max (out of stock - argh!), the SKU for this drive is 20019524 (UPC 718037103471)

Guess I'll keep checking...

Good luck to everyone else!

Woot! I just came back from the Mission Viejo, CA store and they had one left. Picked it up for $31.25 after tax. So if you can find the drive for this price nice deal. I called several closer stores and none of them carried it. But I had them check the stock availability for other stores and they told me Mission Viejo had one. So before going to the store I called them, the employee told me they didnt carry them anymore and only had 40, 80 gb, blah blah. So I told him to check in back because their computer listed them having one in stock and they were able to find one.

So YMMV, have them run a stock check for other stores, call the stores which come up and hassle them, hopefully they'll find it. I think alot of them just assume they don't carry the 30 gb drives anymore.

I snagged one at the San Francisco OM! It rang up to $29.99 before tax...

After tax plus warranty, it came out to 35 something. This deal came just in time for me.... I only have 350MB left on my 6 gig drive!

I scored 3 from a Store in Georgia today(there were more too). Found some more in Texas and Wisconson but I didn't want to be greedy. ;-) Just a heads up that they are more out there. Can't be more specific as I value my job, sorry. Can say most stores that do have them they are tucked away and not on the shelves.

Happy hunting!

For those interested, Washington State is sold out, but according to inventory, store 810 in California still has two.

some stores are doing their inventory this month and they are closing out old merchandise.they want to get all the $$$ out of them or they have to send it back, which will count against their inventory scores.. you can get upto additional 20% off clearence/closeout/display items (YMMV)

here is a general list

report covers
palm VII, IIIc accesories
older cdrw drives (12x,16x,20x)
samsung mp3 players
linksys
dig cameras
pagers
chairs and desks
waterman pens
lamps

If you are serious and do work there, dont be foolish enough to follow his path. Not to say Neo was foolish, no one expected that reaction back then. But be smart!

where neo made his mistake was having his personal info in his profile. Some dumbass took in a printout of the forums, had his id on it. then some pissed off OMax manager reported it, then all hell broke loose....
anyways, much thanks to neo for his past help, I pray that he is doing well now.

I didn't mean to put you off. I wasn't on this site for awhile.

I went to the OfficeMax in the Woodlands accross from Woodlands Mall. It was definitely the last one at the store.

Yeah there were a lot of things in the clearance area but nothing worth buying. Always ask the clerk to check the back.

There's always Fry's with there $109 for 120GB drive special going on.

Poor poor neo. If you're a mole, just be careful and never disclose your personal info (especially in a profile).

Hank

pfft... youngster.....

My first hard drive, a 20MB (yes, that's megabyte) HyperDrive for an original Mac (with a whopping 128KB of mem!) cost me $1,750. Doing the math, that's $87.50 per MB, or $87,500 per GB.

Compared to the 120GB drive that I just bought for $62 after MIR & PM, thanks to AT!!!!!, I'm thinking I might have overpaid a tad...

Puhhhhhhleeeeeeease, my first hard drive was 1/2 of a byte. It cost me $40 billion dollars and it was .00005 RPM, thus i am the coolest.

(Yes, my sarcasm IS meant to make fun of all of you bragging about how much you spent on your hard drive and how much it costs per gig.)

Hey ionizer,
I posted something with a little humor and maybe a little nostalgia and most definitely happiness at a time of precipitously falling prices. Someone followed suit with a little one-ups-manship added in. And you go all sarcastic. I wish someone here had a hot deal on some laxative, cause you definitely sound constipated to me. Or perhaps having a cranial-rectal inversion has put you in such a foul mood.

Have a Nice Day

BTW Kingie, nice find... good post, and I'm sorry some of us have no sense of humor.

And to the OM mole, thanks for the info. Keep your head low, and your powder dry.

Hank

Found one at a metro Atlanta store, and I picked on up for a friend. Man, he needed it too. He had some 1.5GB that was on its last legs.

Where neo made his mistake was expecting people not to be morons. Bringing a printout of the forums is a stupid idea. It only causes problems.
