The drives they sent me were OEM. I might have to call them and see if it's suppose to be retail kits.
Noticed that the WD part number is for the OEM drive so that explains it.

Aye, just got them, they are OEM! They did come in separate brown boxes and were well packed but not retail. Their CS indicated to me that the Dell part number starting with "A" meant "retail" which was obviously misinformation. I'm going to call and talk to them today.

the reason they can sell at this price (below normal cost) is they are buying the 20pk sku's and breaking them up. which if you buy enough 20pk's you get a tremendous price break (ie pallets at a time).

every once in a blue moon some artard will ship a 20pk of something (ram,nic,drives) instead of a single by accident and usually won't catch on heh. its really funny when you order 20 and get 20 20 packs (400) and just hold on to them for a few months and never get a bill or asked for them back lol.

Got a few (5) from NE. They probably could have been packed worse, but they certainly could have been packed better. Each drive was wrapped in (big bubble) bubble wrap, but 3 of then had one (short) side with no bubbles - all had the pc board and connector sides bubbled. The drives were shipped in a huge box that had a giant wad of crumpled paper in the center, with the drives basically pushed against the sides of the box, so they were separated from each other but not from the walls of the box. The shipping box itself was sort of flimsy (single box, single layer of corrugated cardboard), and had been somewhat bent (not really crushed) in one corner, but not near any of the drives. It was certainly the least impressive ship packaging I've ever gotten for drives (even from NE, I think) over many years of buying drives. All of the bubble wrap seemed intact and I don't see anything wrong visually, but I haven't yet powered any of the drives up. I plan to do so this weekend ...
