I'm looking to get a set of 2.1 speakers to hook up to my laptop. Whats the best I can do in the $50-$75 or so range?

For that price I would go to my local B&M store and see what I like to hearing wise in the Creative or Logitech Line...then you could buy now or look on line for 1 better price

Well I am still impressed with their quality and sound. I am a musician and know quality sound, not bragging just honest. I guarantee you will love these speakers. I still can't believe they only cost 79 bucks at radio shack. Best purchase I ever made.

And you're not? Oh please, you're worse for claiming your beloved cyber acoustics to be better than the Swans.

Hey swan fan boy, no I do not do drugs or alcohol. Put down the bong long enough to show me where I said cybers were better than swans? I said:

Sauro, I just got these speakers (Cybertech) after listening to klipsh promedia 2.1 and logitech Z2200. These are very high quality heavy speakers with pure undistorted sound, phenominal response and they rival the klipsh and definately sound better than the logitech. The sound is purely fantastic. Wiring is high quality too. I guarantee you will love these and the price is fantastic. Newegg has em for ~105 shipping included but Radio Shack has them for 79 bucks and free shipping! That's where I got mine ordering online. Read the reviews on newegg, all 5 star and not 1 negative review. I would recommend getting nice speakers then a sound card later on. I had altecs prior also. You will not be disappointed. A sound card is not going to benefit you at this time.
179 bucks?? 2.0??? refuse the shipment is my advice and let them be returned to newegg. A good sub will be 100 watts or above. Your speakers are self powered and i see no way to connect a sub to them. The amp which is in the subwoofer powers the satellites as well as the sub, cant hook up powered speakers to another powered source. Refuse the shipment and get the cybers from radio shack. I guarantee you will be glad you did. I refused a shipment from newegg not long ago when I ordered the wrong video card. Just tell the fed ex man you refuse the package and then notify newegg you refused shipment because it was wrong item. Just my advise, its your money. Checking the swan site, those speakers are 20 watts where newegg advertises them 40. Each speaker is 20 watts. You would have to find a sub that put out 20 watts for satellites (provided you can hook those speakers up bypasing its internal amp) and u aren't gona find a decent sub that puts out that little power. If you insist on paying that much for 2 speakers then for Christ sakes get the Klipsh promedia 2.1's. I just can't see spending that much money on 2 speakers when you are going to be stuck with 2 speakers and you can pay much less for better sounding systems with a sub.
(You can hookup a sub to the swans bypassing the speakers internal amp. That does not change the fact the speakers are rated at 20 watts.)
I have not listened to swans and i sure wouldn't waste 180 bucks on 2 - 20 watt speakers I dont care how big they are or how they sound

I wouldn't know as I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any of the folks over there who wrote:

These speakers performed quite well during casual testing but literally exploded during benchmarking. We?re sure the chances are slim that you?ll be listening to signal sweeps on a regular basis, but the fact that they can?t take the heat makes them tough to recommen

So I don't think reading owner reviews would inform me any more than what I actually heard and enjoyed but I'm sure liking my $<50 EV SonicXS's more

you know what that sounds like? hey, you are paying over $300 for a CRT! refuse shipment and get a LCD already!
i had much respect for you for preaching people quality CRT is where its at, which is what i wholeheartedly agree with..

now this is simply WRONG. just read any review on the internet and you will be soon to realize the klipsch stuff is not in the same league. as for quoting RMS numbers, its just as pointless as comparing shadowmask dot pitch against aparture grille dot pitch.

I recommend the 930 mit due to its quality and i recommend the cybertech for the same reason. I stand by my comments about maximum pc. Read the user reviews on newegg of cybers and listen to the speakers if possible before you judge. Virtualgames, go post in the kiddie forum.

The current equivalent of the Altec ATP3 (I think they are called the 4151 - sell for $70 on newegg) are very musical and natural sounding, but probably not up to heavy gaming.
. Do most of the RS stores stock those CA speakers? I'll have to see if I can get a listen next time I'm in the vicinity of a store. $87. tax included is mucho better than $106. shipped!
