What's the prime95 temp?

My idle cpu temp now is 37c, but the mobo temp is 32c. It's snowing outside. It's typically 40c and goes up to 51c when running prime95.

Wow, Pentium 4s run cool. My Athlon XP 1700+ runs that hot. Maybe that's why a lot of vendors use Intel, because they can't be overheated easily by a person new to computers.

I would consider that slightly higher than normal. Stock cooling? Seems normal for stock cooling.

My AMD runs 50c with a Alpahpal w/ 38 cfm 80 mm fan inside of a coolermaster. Funny thing is, it max's out at 52c and doesn't get any higher. However I overclocked mine by a good 400 Mhz.

The problem with temperature readings is that there is a good chance that each motherboard will be substantially different. Here is a list of 3 motherboards I've used in the past 4 months including the idle temps(watercooled) on the same processor:

Asus P4P800: 24-26c
Abit IS7: 34-36c
Epox 4PDA2+: 35-39c

You can't trust on board/chip sensors to be accurate IMHO. Use them as a guide and use stress tests and overall stability as the final say.

Yes, I can agree on that. Some people's temps are just unrealistically low. I just find it hard to imagine a overclocked p4 to be in the 30c's range. At least not air cooled anyway.
