To be picky, make sure you laptop hard drive's height is no more than 9.5mm. I don't believe mass market (or any?) 2.5" drives are less than 9.5mm.

Alcor Micro, Realtek, and numerous other chip makers release generic-O-lized drivers for their OEMs. Yes, I made that word up. They probably didn't rename a thing.Any clue what chipset it uses?
I looked at the driver package...they renamed the files and infs pretty well.

Judging by the reference to "ALI" and "ali" in the driver properties, I would put my money on an Acer Labs controller chip.
