2.5 VCore?! This can't be right.

OK, so maybe a bit of a newbie problem here. I just finished building my brother's new Ryzen 1600 build yesterday, got Win 10 installed, ran a few tests and benchmarks, and called it a night. This morning, I set to work trying to squeeze out all the pent up performance this thing has. I am not an overclocking expert here, so I decided to take this very slowly. I manually set the VCore to 1.3 (recommended 24/7 is 1.35), frequency to 3.6 GHz as a starting point, and booted right into Windows. I noticed in CPU-Z that the displayed VCore is 2.528 while running Prime 95 blend. As I said, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure this CPU would have a hole melted through it at that voltage. Temps were good. Never went above 70 on the stock cooler, and was rock solid (as it should be since that's the stock boost).

Does CPU-Z and HWMonitor have a problem displaying Ryzen voltages or have I missed something? Appreciate any input here. I've never seen that on any of my Intel OCs, and this one sort of threw me for a loop.

They have been updated to correctly show Ryzen volts. Make sure you have the newest version.

That was the first thing I checked actually. Both CPU-Z and HWMonitor are running the latest version. At any rate, I confirmed that things are correct in the bios, and haven't had any issues beyond incorrect voltages. Temps are good and it's stable at 3.8 GHz. Thanks for the reply.

I noticed this also. I trust Ryzen master for voltage readings, but HWMonitor shows more correct temps for me. Probably because I'm stuck on the first release version.

There's some MoBos reporting wrong voltage readings for CPU-Z, like the Taichi. Video linked to the timestamp where Tiny Tom Logan mentions it: https://youtu.be/U5IpXvOFtPU?t=852

his CPU-Z screenshot was showing 2'848V while Vcore was set in BIOS to 1'42V. HWiNFO64 reported accurate readings with that board, so might help you too

CPU-z actually has correct voltage readouts for my Taichi in ver 1.78.3 with UEFI rev 2.0. I think the latest version of CPU-z broke correct voltage readouts so I haven't bothered to update.

That would make sense then. This board is ASRock as well, but the AB 350 pro on rev. 2.5 (I think. whatever the latest is). Still zero issues otherwise on the CPU front, and Ryzen Master shows correct voltages. Now if only I could get this ram up to 3200 MHz. Maybe the next BIOS update will fix both issues.
