2.53 SL6S2 @ 3.5GHz / BH7

The last 2.53B from Outpost did not quite make me happy @ 175MHz FSB, so I just had to try again..

2.53B SL6S2 C1
MCX4000 / 92mm Panaflo
ABIT BH7
512MB PC2700 Kingston Value RAM
Antec TrueControl 550
2X 40GB Maxtor D740X-6L
Radeon 9700 Pro
Acoustic Edge

3524.4MHz / 1.60v (load) / 185MHz FSB EDIT: 100% stable here, but I backed down the VCore to 1.550V @ 3.5GHz... See below.

512MB PC2700 Kingston Value RAM @ 463.7MHz 2-3-3-7

I went straight to 180MHz FSB @ 1.550V and ran Prime95 for a few hours, then looped 3DMark2001 for a couple more rock solid.. 185 took one more VCore bump, and has been running through Prime 95 for almost 2 hours now.. Looking good so far... Any bets on how long it will take me to smoke this one?

I will post benchmarks after stess testing....

EDIT: Anyone want to buy an SL6S2 2.53B that does 175MHz FSB? Keep an eye on the For Sale / Trade Forum..

Outpost still packed like crap, but there were only 2 bent pins this time..

Thanks Sean.. These 2 512MB sticks of PC2700 Kingston Value RAM (Winbond BH-6) are the best RAM in my arsenal, and I have quite a collection of other top-shelf brands..

EDIT: LastRide, The Prometeia will be on this one for sure.. I see an easy 3.7-3.8GHz in the future.. I have had my case mod on hold recently, but now I have my motivation back...

Thats why I run mine at 3.3GHz at default Voltage.Its just not worth taking a chance of toasting it for an extra 100-200mhz.To many reports of SNDS at even 1.7V.:Q

This one is @ 1.65V idle / 1.60V load, which is lower than the one I smoked before. I still have not determined if it was the mobo or CPU. What was the average VCore of the ones that you have recently read about conking out Thugs? This 2.53B is running smooth as silk..... So far.

EDIT: PJ, what is your VCore @?

Wow, that's insane. I'm running my 1.8 @ 2.6 right now (145x18 @ 1.60 volts) on my BH7. I've had it up to 2.8 but it got a little hot and faild prime95 after an hour. Waiting on my SLK-900 to come in and replace my crappy stock heatsink. I think I got the same fan as you for it. Is that the FBA09A12U? You just can't beat 69 cfm's at 45 db's in my opinion.

Mine is the 92mm FBA09A12H rated @ 2850 RPM, 57 CFM, 35 dBA.

over 1.6v loaded is frying some C1 chips w/in 3 weeks.

i also noticed that a few canterwood boards only goto 1.6v max in bios....

all that vcore only gets you 5 fsb max anyways.

I just backed it down to 1.550v idle @ 183MHz FSB to see if it will cut it under stess testing.... Thanks for the info & concern...

Just curious about what kind of temps you get with the Prometia? More to the fact on how low do you go on the temp and how much more of an oc do you expect to get?

The Prometeia chiller head is around -36C idle / -29C load. I usually can count on at least 300-400MHz more than the maximum air-cooled OC. The last "good" SL6S2 2.53B I had in the Prometeia did 3.7GHz. I am pretty sure this one will top out @ 3.8GHz.

BTW... All is well @ 183MHz FSB / 1.550V.. Prime95 rolling right along. I will continue with my usual run of stress tests here, then attempt to get it back to 185MHz FSB at this reduced VCore.

BTW, you o/c is amazing I have 2.53 which is not C1 and it only runs stable at about 2.9
but I can't complain about the price.. I've paid $132 about 6 month ago for this CPU

techietam, Thanks! Just dumb luck I guess. The RAM was advertised as Winbond BH-6 when I purchased it some time back. I was very surprised it was PC2700 Kingston Value RAM with BH-6 chips.
