I received the 2.53 I ordered from Outpost.com early this morning... It did turn out to be a SL6S2. (Malaysia)

So far, this is a killer processor. I am modding a case for my Prometeia, so I just threw on my retail 3.06 HSF with some AS3 to see what would happen.....

3429.4MHz / 1.552v (idle) / 180MHz FSB

512MB PC2700 Kingston Value RAM @ 451.2MHz 2-3-3-7

I have been running Prime95 all morning along with 3DMark03, and then played some Serious Sam 2 for awhile... rock solid!!

I have not even tried for more yet, and don't think I will until I am able to chill it out with the Prometeia.
3.7-3.8GHz may be in reach.. I will post more later..

Well.... I just had to throw on the Prometeia.

Currently Prime95 stable @:

3714.4MHz / 1.664v (load) / 195MHz FSB

512MB PC2700 Kingston Value RAM @ 391MHz 2-2-2-5

I don't think it will make 200MHz FSB (3.8GHz) without having to raise the VCore more than I want to. 3714MHz is pretty good, although I will more than likely knock it back to where my RAM maxes out @ 4:5 / 2-3-3-7.....

I hope a dual channel DDR mobo that I like comes along soon. This processor is waiting for it...

EDIT: Radeon 9700 Pro (not OC'ed) 3DMark2001: 17466 3DMark03: 5110

Sandra CPU: 10324/2141/4844 MM: 14801/18839

Wow, nice OC!

Mmm, phase change cooling....drool. But little out of my league, price wise.

Thanks everyone... It is a nice processor.

This is an OEM (Tray) processor from outpost.com. It seems that all of the 2.53 Tray processors shipped recently from outpost.com are SL6S2. That is why I took a shot at one.

I have a pretty good OC going with my 2.53 SL6S2 from outpost, but I wonder if I could get more out of it with the Abit BH7. It's a very cheap board too, only 89.99 shipped from Googlegear..

You may but the p4pe is no shabby board...I doubt much better then 3-5more fsb max then current...I got that much coming form the 4g4a mobo to the albatron pev pro mobo, but the epox and i845g mobos had known fsb limitations and memory timing issues...

The abit offers upgradeability but I thnk the performance diff wont be worth it...wait for the canterwoodsa and let the chip coast for awhile!!!

THUGSROOK, These 2 512MB sticks of PC2700 Kingston Value RAM (Winbond BH-6) are magic. I run them @ 2.80v. I have HyperX 3500, Corsair XMS 3200, TwinMOS BH-5, and OEM Winbond BH-5. The Kingston Value RAM is the best. I have run them into the 460s (2-3-3-7) MemTest stable. :Q
what cooling system are u using to oc more then 1.2 ghz tell me i want to oc too
It is the Prometeia.

codehack2, Be sure to post your results with the SL6S2.. It should scream...

EDIT: Keep an eye out in the For Sale Forum.... I like this 2.53 so much that I may be selling my 3.06 and 2.40 C1 soon...

Trying to find Kingston with BH-6 chips is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack.I still recommend just buying PC3700 as the newer 2700-3200 ram stinks. You will spend thousands trying to find a good pair of sticks.:disgust:

:| Goy my SL6S2 from outpost today LOOK

Check out the pins
And here

Once I finally got them straightened out I was able to get it to it to 178 fsb on a gigabyte 8SQ800 before I corrupted some system files.will attempt more later. but it looks like the corsair is holding me back

cpars, Damn.. I have been reading about many cases of bent pins from outpost. I was just lucky with mine. Well, look on the bright side.. Your OC is off to a very nice start. It seems these 2.53s have OC'ing magic and are only available AFAIK from outpost.com and Fry's B&M stores. Keep us posted on your progress with the SiS 655.

Yup, I have received 5 different 5 different cpu's from Outpost over the last 10 days, and all of them had at least a couple bent pins... a couple were really bad and took me quite a bit of time to straighten. I only sent one back as an RMA. It was not a very good overclocker and I spent about 30 minutes trying to straighten the pins on it. THing is, ya almost have to try them because these cpus are so good, you hate to send back that one "miricle" chip.

Wish I had taken a little more time with the pix, there were around 50 pins or so that needed to be straightened. Anyway I was able to get around 170 fsb ram+ -400, but had to start backing down when I booted at 180 & ram at + -266 and then i got the corrupted files.damn $150 a stick corsair crap.
Anyway thanks for the info technonut, it is a good chip. I had a 2.53 BO stepping that topped out 159-160 that i replaced this with.
Oh by the way any advise on which way to back up for the next corruption of files?
Ghost or WinXp ASR ?

Thanks Lou..

Well, the MCX4000 HS and TT Smart Fan 2 I ordered came early this morning instead of Monday. I had to bump the VCore to 1.696v (idle) and ran Prime95 while looping 3DMark2001 for 2 hours @:

3524.5MHz / 185.5MHz FSB!!

512MB PC2700 Kingston Value RAM @ 463.7MHz 2-3-3-7

It is strange that it runs 3.7GHz at lower VCore on the Prometeia, but as long as I am under 1.70v on air-cooling, it is ok..

I forgot to install my thermal probe on the processor since the BH7 reads temps high, but it appears that the MCX4000 is doing very well..
