<< I took the plunge and damn. I made 3 international calls. On the first one, the person could not hear me. I hang up and call again. This time it was fine. Then I made a third call. There were echoes and it was so annoying that I had to hang up and call again--this time using my normal LD carrier. I have never gotten a bad connection with my LD carrier for as long as I can remember.

Not sure if it's worth the savings.
>>

I used OneSuite before. When I called South Korea, it happened all the time. after 15 or 20 min, they don't hear me at all. I could hear them saying, but they could not hear me. I had to hang up and called again. It is very annoying. I heard many other people have the exact problem. All domestice calls are fine. Good luck.

Yup, you can. Been using this for 2 years, it's been great! Occasionally around mid-evening, you may get a busy signal--but usually dialing right back gets you in to make your call.

When you use this as a calling card, you'll dial the 800 #. It'll then ask your 1st for your account #, present you with how many $$ is left in your account (divide roughly by 3 to figure how many minutes are left---when you're dialing from home the service simply tells you how many minutes period is remaining, so it's a little different format), & then you'll punch in the # you're calling.

The account # is your home phone number + an extension of additional #s at the end.

<< I would like to know about the following:

Can I get this service for strictly a calling card when I am on the road without
changing my existing service with another carrier?

I looked at the sign up process, but it asked for my existing home phone #.

I don't want to change my home phone plan but would like to buy minutes
for when I travel.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Anthony

<< how does this compare to the deal at sam's club?? with att >>

3.47 cents for Sam's pre-paid card vs. OneSuite's 2.9 cents (domestic). When calling from home, OneSuite only needs the initial call to the 800 number (assuming you're calling from your known "ZipDial" home phone) - no PIN or other additional numbers to punch.

As for the ATT $20 unlimited deal to other ATT residential customers - $20.00 / 2.9 cents = 690 minutes = 11.5 hours.
(Not sure if the other end also has to be on the $20 unlimited deal - $40 total?)

So, *if* you've got a bosom buddy you talk to 1 hour per day - 30 hours per month - looks like ATT would win hands down.

the customer service sucks!
they charged other's calls to my account, because their system can not tell my phone
number and other peoples' who live the same area with a "trucking system"?? and refused
to refund me.

One thing to watch out for - calls to Guam cost 10.5 cents a minute. Most other carriers rate Guam the same as a US domestic call since it's a US territory, but for some reason that's one of OneSuite's more expensive destinations.

OneSuite rocks the house. Great rates and clear, reliable service. I use it all the time for out-of-state long distance on my cell phones.

Son will be traveling to Canada next month. Does anyone know of some decent prepaid plans for calling the US from Canada?

I couldn't find an answer, so I'll ask here for you onesuite.com gurus.

Do I have to used my balance by the end of the month to keep the balance or is it just the 6 month time alotment? For example. if I charge $10 on my account and don't use it at all for a month, does it go away at the end of the month or does it stay there until my 6 month period comes up? After the 6 months, my account is put on "hold" until I recharge it (thus gaining the original "frozen" amount back in addition to my recharge amount), or does the balance go away and I'm stuck with just the recharged amount?

I understand it's like a phone card, yet it doesn't state whether the minutes expire and you don't ever get to use it again or if it's just there until you activate it again. Thanks for any help!

I've posted several favorable reviews of onesuite, but no I'm changing my tune.

Recently I've been unable to access their system, and when connect the system does not recognize my zipdial number. Major pain. Hope it's a temporary situation because other that the recent problems they've been a great money saver.

I've been using zoneLD for a while. Not as cheap for domestic calls, but international call I think are cheaper (at least to Israel they are).

here's how it works on onesuite (been using them for over a year)

when you first sign-up, you buy a "virtual phone card" associated with your account, and fund it with a min of $10. it tells you that your minutes will expire in 6 months.

if you havent used those $10 at the end of 6 months, they are forfeited, and your account balance is changed to 0

but say you are in this sitiation (what happens to me)
you use up your $10 in minutes in a month or two (or three) and then you recharge. however you recharge
while you still have a $1 balance.
that $1 balance still expires in the original 6 months, but the new $10 expires 6 months from recharge

so say i recharge after 3 months while i have $2 in credit, then i dont use the card in another 3-4 months. I lose the $2 but not what i re-charged it for.

any other questions?

P.S. I've had good quality over all on international quality. it really depends on the network it travels on in my experience. I have great quality to netherlands, france, england, russia.. and so on. but it depends on where exactly in those places for the quality.

Let me get this straight. I buy this card for $10. This only valid for 6 months so use it or lose it. I can only use it call from home for $.29. If I travel outside my home there will be different charge if I make a local call from the state I travel to. If I make a local call in foreign Country there is different rate at that Country. Is this correct?

each minute purchase has a 6-month expiration (so use $10 in 6 months or lose it)

you can use it to call from ANYWHERE, there is NO fee in addition to your usage. (only time there is a fee is if you use a payphone)

you can use it ANYWHERE when you travel, there are NO CHARGES

at the moment they offer very limited access to call FROM countries other than the USA, last i checked there wasnt any type of service like that

the "Zipdialing" feature simply registered the call-from # (up to 4) that you call from, so when you dial
the 800 number you DONT have to enter the pin. no fees for that service.

if you call from a non-registered phone number they ask for your pin (zipdialing is just a convience feature)

Also for 2.9cents/min, you ca use Big Zoo - I am pretty sure they don't have the 6-month recharge requirement.
I've used them for 2 years and they've fixed all the problems they had when they were new. Very pleased.

Both BigZoo and OneSuite charge a premium for calling overseas mobiles (at least to the UK and Ireland). Anyone found a carrier that doesn't charge this premium? Or one that has particularly good rates?

I heard that some of the traditional domestic carriers didn't charge the premium if you called using your calling card (and typically international rates on calling card are the same as your home rates, rather than an the inflated prices you get charged for long distance). Anyone have any experience with this?

Unfortunately BigZoo.com's PINs do expire after 6 months [FAQ].

OneSuite.com and BigZoo.com are one in the same company.

I've been a VERY HAPPY BigZoo customer for over a year now and so far have nothing but great things to say about them. I just wish they didn't charge a premium for calling international mobile phones, it makes it difficult for my wife to call her sister's Australian mobile phone

Not that it make a big difference, but I'm not sure that onesuite and bigzoo are one and the same. Bigzoo offices are located in Pasadena, while onesuite's suites are in downtown Los Angeles.
