One of my fav features of onesuite is ZIP dial. Which allows you to program up to 3 numbers that you are calling in from. The system automatically sees those numbers and skips your pin! Very cool. Also you press and hold # for 2 secs and you can make more calls without getting off the system.

I use the following:

ZIP-home
ZIP-Cell
ZIP- work

<<Ah, that's one of the questions I couldn't find the answer too on thier web site... is there a minimum charge per call, or a connection fee? Currently I'm using vartec which has a $.50 per call minimum (in other words they charge you a minimum of 10 mins per call). I would definately consider going to this if I didn't have to pay a minimum connection charge each call. >>

The only connection fee you pay is 2.9 cents, i.e the first minute of your call. Their billing is in one minute increments and there is NO separate connection charge, no taxes, no USF etc.

Great service. I use it for long distance and to UK all the time and have not had any problems, no low volume, no dropped calls. Even works on my Nextel (the only cellular service that one can use with Zip dial). Highly recommended.

I only wish they would take Amex on their website. I'm not comfortable using my 'real' Visa or MC number online as everywhere else I use Amex private payments (singe use random CC numbers).

<< I made many international calls. One problem is that after about 15 minutes of call, the other side won't hear my voice. I could hear them, but they don't hear me at all. I had to hang up and called again. very annoying. I found that other people have the same problem. But it happened to me every time when I called overseas and over 15 mins. >>

The quality of *some* of their international connection is terrible. My guess is that it depends on how technologically advanced the other country's communications equipment are.

Otherwise, OneSuite is a God given gift. If you switch to it, in order to send even a more meaningful message to the big phone cos, elect not to have any long distance carrier whatsoever.

This is unlikely to be the cause all of the time - long distance calls within the USA are often terrible - when I was phoning "North" to "South" within the USA the call quality was often so bad I hung up Especially Missouri and Pennsylvania to locations in Alabama and Lousiana! - this was not using Bigzoo btw....)

When I phone back to the UK from any location in the USA the call quality is often perfect with Bigzoo - better than calls within the USA for some unknown reason? Maybe they use satellite rather than cables?
Calls to Hong Kong are generally of lesser quality - but still nothing like the (poor quality) US domestic long distance calls using AT&T service at work. I'm not sure why USA to HK calls are of lower grade - as HK has an excellent telecommunications system?

When phoning the UK from Hong Kong - the call quality was often that good (PCCW to British Telecom) that friends used to often ask - "are you home?".

I think that in certain 3rd world countries, the call quality could be fairly poor though - that was often the case when phoning one of my buddies who had popped down to the Philippines for a bit of "bar hopping" - mind you he was probably half gassed in a go-go bar in Angeles City at the time on his mobile

On a different note - if anybody wants to go to the trouble of chatting on the internet, the Yahoo and MSN messengers often have excellent quality audio features nowadays. You just need to disable the "hands-free" option and then chat like you are using a CB radio. It does vary, but, generally audio has been excellent within the past year to the UK and HK

I vote for Bigzoo also - served the purpose now for me since May/June 2001

I did the next best thing: for those times when I can't get through to OneSuite, I signed up to have ZoneLD as my carrier. =)

<< Currently I'm using vartec which has a $.50 per call minimum >>

Until I caught aphoenixrises' remark in another post, I was using vartec for international calls - but as 10-10-811, rather than as my LD provider (no 10 minute minimum).

But now, thanks to aphoenixrises, I've stumbled onto OneSuite.com.

It's feels great to have started a widely useful thread!

Shouldn't "Hot Deals" have a semi-permanent "Best Standing Deals" ("Best Current Deals"?) type of area so any forum visitor can immediately discover well known, standing, "Hot Deals" and thus avoid re-inventing known deals?

<< Can anyone else confirm the international problem? >>

I made calls to South Korea. I have reported this problem to OneSuite.com. will see what they are going to do. I am seriously looking for other alternative. It is cheap, but is very annoying. However, don't have any problem with domestice long distance.

Ya'll call home now, no excuses
And you are welcome.

And about that international problem, Ive had it a few times and since discovered the problem is not with one suite but occurred on any service I used, most likely weather interference and or as someone else mentioned the lack of technology on the other end. It was not a constant problem.

JUST SAY NO TO HIGH PHONE BILLS AND YES TO ONE OF THE BEST PHONE SERVICES AROUND

And to the person that asked if you can use with a cell phone,,,
YOU BETCHA-unlimited local call plans gives you access to unlimited 2.9 a minute long distance.

ENJOY

If anyone decides to do this as well (I just did), make sure you do it through getconnected.com. They will send you $25 after three months staying connected with ZoneLD.

Another vote for OS. They're great except during really peak hours when the quality seriously degrades.

They also increased their rates to the Philippines too... no longer as good a deal as it used to be but the rest of the country rates are still pretty good.

For those of you who are using Onesuite to call to the Philippines:

I just sent them an e-mail concerning their rather confusing rates because my
wife calls her family via a land-line and that prefix is listed under the cell-phone
rates (i.e. listed as $0.1900/minute instead of $0.1350/minute). Apparently, this
might be a screw-up on their part and they may have land-line and cell rates
mixed together... They need to at least clarify this on their site.

Here is the reply I got to my e-mail:

"... For your kind of case. Our technical people are working on it right now.
It might take another week to fix this. Please provide your account detail,
time and number of those extra charge calls. We will follow up your case and
give credit back for the rate different.
Sincerely
OneSuite Support Team"

So much for their grammar skills, but if you called land-lines in the PI and got
charged cell-phone rate, you might contact them and see if this was correct...
you might get some credit back.

Any comments on calls to Mexico through OneSuite? I make calls to Mexico 2-3 times per week and use 101-6868 and 1010-719 @19cents per minute (1010-719 charges 30cents connection fee). I get through on the first attempt 90% of the time and the sound quality is excellent, sometimes echo or clicking noise. I tried BigZoo about a year ago but I could not tolerate the busy signals.
Thanks

OK. Since I'm not a fan of "calling card" like porgrams (I don't want another number to call first), what about other LD options. I was seriously looking at KISSLD.com. There plan is part of your calling package.

3cents a minute
All domestic calls are rounded to the nearest 6-seond interval.
$3.00 month + $2 if you want paper.

I guess it's close to ZoneLD.

I like paper bills, so here's how they compare:

KISSLD-
100 minutes x .03 = $3.00
monthly charge= $3 + $2 paper bill
=$8.00

ZoneLD
100 minutes x 6.5= $6.5
monthly charge = $2.95 (for the paper bill)
=$9.45

But, is it atleast worth the $5 a month or $60 a year to suck it up or shoulf I just use the 800#.... maybe.

I LOVE Onesuite. I switched over after a 155.00 long distance bill from MCI. I was getting raped on in state calls. What's amazing is I can call New Zealand for 6 cents a minute with Onesuite and with MCI, I was paying 20 cents a minute for calls to a city 10 miles from my home.

I setup a speed dial on my phone for Onesuites number and then setup the "zip dial" feature with onesuite so I don't have to press any numbers other than the number I'm dialing. Works great!

I took the plunge and damn. I made 3 international calls. On the first one, the person could not hear me. I hang up and call again. This time it was fine. Then I made a third call. There were echoes and it was so annoying that I had to hang up and call again--this time using my normal LD carrier. I have never gotten a bad connection with my LD carrier for as long as I can remember.

Besides that, their own system does not work correctly. Dialing the number I was calling never worked the first time around. Sometimes I get a "not valid phone number" message. I enter the number again and it works. Other times, I get a "please enter the phone number you wish to call" even though I had just entered it. I enter the number again and it works. And twice I got the "please enter you PIN" even though I use zipdial.

Not sure if it's worth the savings.

This plan is better in my opinion:

AT&T Prepaid Phone Card for sale at Sam's Club - 3.47cents/min

No hidden surcharges (A pay phone surcharge, of course)
No monthly fees
And the nicest detail with them is that minutes never expire

It's through AT&T so you know the quality of the call is supperb.

marcio,
Sorry to hear less than peaches and cream.
That's the *first* post I've seen with a serious issue.
What country did you call and have the problem with?

As to entering the PIN on a ZipDial - do you have caller ID blocking?
I do and I need to always dial "*82" before the 800 number.

You're on the hook for at least $10.
Keep trying & let us know.

Thanks.

I would like to know about the following:

Can I get this service for strictly a calling card when I am on the road without
changing my existing service with another carrier?

I looked at the sign up process, but it asked for my existing home phone #.

I don't want to change my home phone plan but would like to buy minutes
for when I travel.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Anthony

atwnsw, u can get all those things. it doesnt have anything to do with ur current plan or number. simply a prepaid card kinda thing. they ask u for ur home # i think to generate your pin number.

been using onesuite for over a year and a half now and its saved me hundreds over my school rate.
