Very help folks, beside Gary they got Mike. Not his fault that MS FP sucks. Highly recommended!

Dixiesys is a good host. They aren't Cyberwings and the Dixiesys deals appeared long before the Cyberwings ones.

Yes, that is correct, but I said for those "who are moving" because if they are currently running a CGI forum they will have to go through switching/converting DBs.

Since someone else asked for a few good PHP/MySQL forums, here's a small list:

  • Invision Board (from the same pereson that wrote ikonboard, but this one is much faster, without sacrifying any features)
YabbSE (PHP/MySQL port of the popular YaBB)
PhpBB (another good one, comparable to the aforementioned)

I use dixiesys for hosting, and it's been extremely reliable. I use it mostly for hosting an email domain, and Gary offers IMAP service, which is very important to me since I access it from different computers at once. I've not found a service that offers IMAP as well as POP and this amount of storage for 3.95 a month.

Thanks,
Frob

I mentioned this in the old dixiesys thread last night, but I'll repeat it since I didn't see this new thread...

I signed up last night, but my checkout didn't acknowledge the special. The deal was, however, reflected in my control panel, which showed that For $39.95/year (I prepaid in full, which is even cheaper than $3.95/month) I got 400 megs storage and 6000 megs transfer/month, which is double the 3000Mb that I payed for. cool.

So, the "double what you pay for" definitely means storage, rather than two years for the price of one.

My site isn't built yet, but my email is already up and running this morning, even though I had to wait for godaddy to change my nameservers.

I can't imagine beating this deal...

I'm running vbulletin off of zerosetup.com right now but the MySQL server speeds are horrible. To those of you that are running forums off Dixiesys how's their actual server speed (not their connection speed)? Anyone have a forum I could take a look at?

So you only receive double website storage but not double anything else?

Cool, I might open my Hot Deals website with Dixiesys then since CyberWings uptime reliability and future seems uncertain at this point.

Nevermind...problem with ISP. Gary did reply quickly to my email though.

Gary had a small problem with Server 8 this morning but is fixed with a password reset if you are running a database.

I have also switched to DixieSys.com .. Gary is a class-act, I just talked to him for about 20 minutes, about his business plan, services, cashflow, etc. He has his sh!t together and I'd recommend to anyone. I just purchased the $10/month reseller account from him and will be requesting my Cyberwings refunds tonight.

This thread has pretty much all praise for him and his services.. and the praise comes from respected members, not junior/newbies

Yep you should receive everything you need shortly after payment is confirmed.

I placed my order at 8:25pm and everything was working at 1:04 am. Took a little over 3 hours but Gary just uploads accounts in bunches.

Has anyone found out how current subscribes (3.95/month) can benefit from this deal?

Why not call and ask them yourself? Toll free 1-888-795-6720, if no answer leave your name, domain name, and phone number and they'll call you back.

You can also reach Gary:

Channel: #help

By ICQ: #575399

I bought my hosting off his E*bay special and hadn't received my startup email, so after talking to him on IRC, I was going in ~ 10 minutes. Great guy with excellent service.

I been thinking about jumping into a website, and had to go for this one (thanks). I got my domain and dixiesys account last Friday and was up in a couple hours. The whole process was my first time and it went smooth with one small exception, I ended up with a personal account instead of the small account I paid for. Took a couple days, but all was fixed today though!

I read they were having problems with a couple servers (including mine - www8), but I have only had a little problem. From what they posted in thier forums they were supposidly having problems with the update to Apache they installed.

What do I think of all this as a first time web buyer... well I plan on recommending a couple of friends at work to get thier service through Dixiesys too. I have only read good things, and even my problem was fixed pretty fast.

I can also verify that the 2-for-1 will double everything for the plan you purchase. I think I also read on one of the forums that current customers have some type of option of getting in on the deal too, but am not sure of the details.

I signed up during the 2 for 1 and got double everything on a single account...

Anybody know how I go about getting the other 'double' option? I.e. 2 sites for the price of one? I didn't see any way to do that and I want to get it set up before I've had the double on a single site too long.

Anyone know of a cheap service that will do this for more than one Domain??

Thanks!

Their site doesn't go into details on email. Can someone please tell me how many accounts they provide per domain and how reliable their servers are? Also please comment on their web-based email system? TIA.

Go to Dixiesys.com, under web hosting in the left navigation menu.

There you can see all the options and specs for each level of hosting, including how many e-mail, bandwidth, storage, etc.

Webmail seems to work well as far as I can tell. I thought is was pretty decent.
