dixiesys offers quality, cheap web hosting services. The owner, Gary is very reasonable and provides great customer support. Server has been reliable too. Check out their hosting plan form $3.95 per month and reseller plans (from $10 per month).

They have a July Special! Get 2 for 1 on all new Web Hosting and Reseller Orders! Just sign up for 2 and pay for 1 or sign up for 1 and get double the normal package! For Domain Reseller plans, simply double your payment amount ($25 gets you the $50 plan and $50 gets you the $100 plan)!

They have hosting plans staring from $3.95 per month (200MB disk space, 3GB bandwidth), so w/ July special you get two packages for $3.95 per month! you can find cheaper hosting from others, but it's hard to beat their customer support and uptime record. If you are serious about your web site, I recommend dixiesys.

-Plesk Control Panel
-www.YOURDOMAIN.com hosting
-Apache Web Server
-MySQL Databases
-PHP4
-Perl-script ready CGI-BIN
-FTP Access,
-IMAP/POP3/SMTP, Email forwarders/autoresponders/groups, Web Mail

No, he does his own web hosting. There was a big thread about Dixiesys a while ago and hundreds of people signed up, including me. No problem with him so far and I would recommend him to everyone else.

"owner Gary"? Shouldn't that be "CEO Gary"?

And how much will he charge to Zap my account?

I didn't have the best luck with dixiesys. The server was slower than my service providers free hosting. I finally complained after about 3 months and Gary's respones was yeah I get the most complaints from people on server # (whatever the # was).

Half of my sites are at Dixiesys and have had little problem. I will say this " At least you get a response when you have a problem."

Dixiesys has been hosting the web site of my son's Boy Scout troop for about 6 months.
Smooth sailing so far.

Have one site hosted by dixie, so far so good, no serious problems. I happened to caught on that old dixie thread on this forum, went to its IRC server, talked to Gary for a bit and decided to sign up.

Be aware tho that no CGI or flat-file forum software are allowed, for those that plan on moving.

I signed up with Dixiesys earlier this year. It was the first time I'd every used a hosting provider besides Geocities or my own computer. Everything went very, very smoothly. I think I was set up with my account in under six hours. The server I'm on seems fast enough (I haven't really put anything up that would slow it down), but the RaQ management thing is pretty slow.

They come highly recommended from me.

Also, for those of you who might be confused - this is *not* a Cyberwings reseller.

I have tried both and found Dixiesys to be much better than Cyberwings. No problems whatsoever. I've never had any problems with the server being down or anything else. Highly recommended.

The problem that they were having was cgi-based forums using up far more system resources than the other users combined. There are excellent free PHP-based options out there that use far less system resources.

They are a great company and that is a great price. I signed up for hosting from them as well and I have had the best luck with them. They offer the most for the least ammount of money in my opinion. The new deal is really hot!

Being a tad lazy today, any recommendations of PHP based forum software (threaded and non)?

My site is also hosted by them and I couldn't be happier. I migrated from angelfire and with help from the dixiesys forums it was piece of cake

I also have a site hosted through Gary. Not only did I read all the posts here before signing up , but I know Garys bandwidth is reliable.. I sold it to him ; ). He co-los a few of the servers he hosts on with a company I usd to work for. They have a very solid backbone and a 99.??% uptime.

I host my business site on Dixiesys. Sometimes the mail server goes down or is at least unreachable but it's rectified pretty quick.
It's not bad at all.

Anyone try icdsoft.com - $5/month, they offer the following:

333 MB Web Space, $5 Domain Registration, Custom 404 Page, 24/7 FTP Access Unlimited E-Mail Accounts, 5 Subdomains for FREE!, 24/7 Tech Support, Web Site Statistics, MySQL, Personal CGI-BIN, SMTP Server, Server Side Includes (SSI), Graphical Hit Counter, 5 Gigs Data Transfer & Hits, SSH access, Site Search Engine, PERL, C++, TCL, and Python, PHP4
I'm using Dixiesys now and they've been great until the last week and 1/2, when there has been a lot of downtime for my site, which is on their server 6. Thinking about switching to icdsoft.com however their servers are based in Hong Kong. Would there be any problem with this?

www.heavybrick.com

Its all images if you guys want to check download speeds.
I'm happy with them. I have a question I get a response. I've never had downtime. I use it mostly to swap files and post stuff on forums... Thats why its not a real page...

PHPBB is what I use, but others use YaBB or Invision. They're easily found in search engines.

Oh, and they have been working on the problems with server 6 lately. I think it had something to do with some cgi pigs bringing the server to its knees. Things have been improving.

Two sites hosted there. No problems.

Awesome support if you have a problem too.

The no CGI forum rule may stop some from switching, but you can write a PHP forum easily enough.
