2 Network cards

Hi,

I have installed a 2nd network card into my computer to have it connect to my home network that gets its IP from my web server and the 1st network card I want to use for internet traffic that is directly connected to the internet. Currently my computer running Win XP Pro is using the 2nd connection for internet and not the first network card that is directly connected.

How can I get Win XP to use my first network card for the internet and the 2nd one for network access?

you should be able to swap the cables(hook the internet cable to the card for internet and the other to the other nic) and go to a command prompt. To get there should be start>accessories>Command Prompt. In the command window type "ipconfig /release"(space after ipconfig) then hit enter. at the next prompt type "ipconfig /renew"(same format) and enter. it should then show you the new ip addresses for the cards. you might or might not have to reboot to get windows to recognize this. hope that helps!

Set the internal one to static (or don't pass gateway/default route or DNS). Plug a cable into it. Browse the network. Should be that simple. I think.

Setting my 2nd network card to a static IP and not entering the defult gateway or DNS did the trick.
