Hopefully they have sorted out the dodgy single player game that dogged previous ID games IMHO... sure it'll be very popular as a MP game though,but those screens don't do it for me....

i'm gonna hafta agree with Penny-Arcade on this one, especially the captioned pictures on the news page. I find the design of the enemies thus far somewhat lackluster.

As opposed to the extremely creative zombies and giant walking aliens we've seen in the HL2 screens? Just as MercenaryForHire said, they will be a lot cooler in action.

They should not be ashamed of the fact that they cannot create compelling concepts or characters. Just be satisfied with the fact that you can make the best game engines around and concentrate on doing that.

I like it when guys like this talk smack about people who are about 8,000X their better.

Tycho- writes column on the "Penny Arcade" webpage I've never heard of.

id- though handicapped by their dull witted lack of imagination, created the first person shooter genre as we know it. Doom, Doom2, Quake1, Quake 2, Quake3 all sold hundreds of thousands of copies all over the world, so somebody must have found them compelling.

Tycho did come up with his unknown column though, so I suppose he's in a position to judge.

i dunno, the leaked prealpha left me somewhat unimpressed. i do agree that half-life isn't too much better in the enemy design department, but it has a wider range of designs.

rollo- penny arcade is very well known. probably one of the better known webcomics related to gaming.
