2 strange issues with xp

Every time I shut down, this program messanger app always screws it up. I get a message saying its not responding. I don't know what the program does, but I'm guessing its automatcially started. Is it possible to delete it somehow?

The other problem occurs at boot up. Every time a folder called Common is opened, and inside of this folder is another folder called Bin. Every time I have to close this folder. Is there a way to get it to stop opening?

Messenger meaning MSN Messegner or Windows Messenger?
To disable this:
1) run "msconfig"
2) go to "startup" tab
3) uncheck "msmsgs", click OK
4) rename "C:\Program Files\Messenger" to something like "C:\Program Files\MessengerOFF"

For the other program, try this:
1) from Explorer, go to "Tools>Folder Options"
2) go to "view" tab
3) uncheck "Restore previous folder windows at logon"
