2 vs 4 sticks of memory

I am running a Asus A8n SLI with corsair value at stock settings. I am upgrading my kids computer and see it as an opportunity to grab more memory for me ;o)

So should I drop the value ram 2x512 into their pc and buy 2*1gb sticks for me, or just add another gig of value ram into mine.

I'd go with the 2 1gig sticks. The AMD memory controller won't run 4 sticks at 1T timing.

If you dont mind paying for the 1GB sticks it would be the best way to go.

Not only that, you'd be lucky to get all four DIMMs to run at 400mhz even with a 2T timing. Most MBs will stipulate that the MAX mhz allowed for all 4 DIMM slots filled is 333mhz.

Definately get 2x1024mb over 4x512mb.

Which brings up a question---I have one decent stick of corsair value ram ddr pc 3200 ram---which will easily run at 3-3-3-8 timings---and is cl2.5---and one not so good nanya ram stick---and overall I am running at a 2t timing.---what improvement can I expect if I chuck the nanya stick and get another corsair 512 stick of vs512mb400--cl2.5 vs cl3 for the nanya--and get the same 3-3-3-8 timings--but maybe get myself to 1T timings?
