Does anyone know a good deal on Motorola talkabouts? Mobshop (has anyone heard of this site?) has them for $49.99 each - but is there a better deal out there?

That doesn't sound like you are saving any money. I think I want the 250 - I don't know how well the cheaper ones actually work.

IF you have decided on the motorola's...

if you want the nicer ones (289's), check out www.mysimon.com and do a search for them.

i just got 2 for $73.99 each, no tax, $6 shipping for the pair. plus there is a $10 rebate on each bringing them down to about $67 each all said and done. arrived in 3 days!

is there any reason to go to the 289 versus the 250's or 280's? you be the judge.. extra tones, locking features, blah blah blah...

the reason i justified the extra cost for the 289's:
SIZE SIZE SIZE

when i'm snowboarding, the smaller the contents in my pockets the better!
