The LAPD is a joke.
The Government is a joke.

We are all hopeless peons.

Arguing over the free truck is ridiculous. These women should be paid millions, and EVERY SINGLE officer that shot at the truck should be fired with no pension, if not criminally charged.

Instead, nothing will happen to the officers because for some reason by default police officers are 'heroes' and these women will have to endure a years worth of trials and lawsuits to get anything.

I was under the impression that you have to first identify and verify that it is your intended target before you engage in such an encounter. Obviously those LAPD "cops" weren't properly trained, proving how incompetent they are. Whoever made the decision to "shoot first and ask questions later" doesn't deserve to be in the police force.

Yeah, right. In twenty years they're going to be captains. Blasting two old ladies delivering newspapers is just showing initiative in the waffen LASS.

I've decided to get a couple guns for my birthday present to myself this year. Probably something compact and a shotgun too.

yeah they are supposed to. I find it sad they did this not once but TWICE. the other truck they rammed first then started firing.

it pisses me off that this is getting swept under the rung. it seems the media has forgot that the LAPD tried to murder people in two separate instances.

I really hope my sarcasm meter is broken.

I'm not sure what country you live in, but in mine, even if the occupant of the vehicle was Dorner/Saddam/Satan, police are generally not allowed to gun someone down with impunity and without an actual threat being presented.

Personally, I've seen a few cars on the road at night/early morning without their lights on... never really saw that as open season on filling the cars with lead.

Your sarcasm meter seems to be working correctly - but your reading comprehension and your quoting mechanism seem to be pretty completely FUBAR.

The part of my post that you erased should have provided a hint that I believe the cops were to blame for what they did.

But maybe going off half-cocked based on partial information is a trait you share with the cops who shot up that truck. Good luck with that.

There seriously has to be better ways to stop a truck than shooting it in the back hundreds of times. Ram it. Road block. Spike mats. Fucking tank traps. I get it if it's trying to run over the policemen, but in the back? Crazy.

so 8 cops fired hitting the truck 102 times.
102/8 = 12.75 rounds per cop hit the truck with no fatalities....

1st im really glad nobody was killed but the injuries to the younger one if she survives will be years of pain.

second as others have pointed out, are LA cops the worst Law Enforcement marksmen in the world??

third, was this checkpoint or steak-out maned by Iraq and Afghanistan vets who had a flashback of a vehicle suicide bomber running a checkpoint? I guess its a good thing they weren't armed with machine-guns.

fourth, i hope these two women get millions and all 8 of those fucktard cops get dismissed.

That's nothing, a few years ago one cop had to reload a 15 round mag twice in order to subdue a black teenage girl sleeping in her car.

The LAPD will wish they had covered the taxes. They will probably have to pay a lot more if they actually get sued.

Bingo. This isnt going away. Every ambulance chaser in southern California will jump on this.

I was going to say "hay that was in my city" but I thought about it and realized it's probably not all that uncommon of an occurrence. Here it was multiple police, and a few reloaded. And they wondered why half the city was up in arms. Lesson learned, don't sleep in your car because it makes you a dangerous person.

One thing is for sure, they are certainly not gamers, if they were, they would hit a bullseye while rocket-jumping the street.

They've come to an agreement....$40,000 payment. One or both of them is still going to have to file with the tax man. I'm just not sure why they are the ladies are so uptight over this.

I wanted to respond to this, but seeing as you are apparently borderline retarded, it's just going to be a waste of both our time.

No shit...LA should scrape up a few pennies and send their cops back to the academy for target practice.

If I was a cop I'd spend a little of my own time at the range on top of whatever piddly minimum standards the department has.

We've got like 500 members at my local club and only one of them is a policeman. Thats actually kind of sad.

...What for? This was a legal settlement.

Upon further review, I could be wrong.
From the article, it doesn't look like this covers personal injury or punitive damages, so it isn't automatically tax free.
But they might only have to pay tax on any amount over the basis of the original truck and not the whole $40k.

In cases like this and car accidents there are 2 parts.

1 is the property (car/truck/house/etc...). The 2nd is the physical body damage (short and long term damage to persons body).

Seems they are just settling the property part now and have accepted that. I am sure they will either get a good payout for the physical damage or go to court on that part.

So this settlement gets at least the truck side out of the news. Tha LAPD wants this to go away quickly and quietly. I expect a NDA to be added to any other settlement.

I wanted to respond to this, but since you've crossed the borderline, it's just going to be a waste of time for both of us.
