every year? you have been together for 2 years!! yikes, you had better just start with giving flowers. Have flowers sent to her work. They love that.

Try getting her something sentimental rather than expensive.

For example, during this Christmas I was beyond broke so I brainstormed and got my g/f her fravorite bread from Wal-Mart (she loves it so much yet doesn't buy it herself, it's just weird) and the first movie we ever saw together as a couple I got her on DVD.

Cost like $25 for those gifts.

Oh, I also bought her a Hugs for Best Friends book at Hallmark for $10 and a teddy bear the color of her Thunderbird she just traded in.

So I spent a whooping $50 but she'll remember them forever.

Hehehe...CONGRATS on 2 YEARS!!!

Man..I'm having trouble myself for my 1 year anniversary with my GF. Erg.....I agree with YZZIM: sentimental value can never be replaced or forgotten.

Same here. 1 year coming up and i'm in the same dilemma. It's amazing how the peeps here at AT always seem to pull through for each other!

I'd agree with everyone else here, sentimental is best at this moment given most of our conditions (e.g. financial heheheh).

For my 2nd year anniversary, I got my GF a nice saphire ring. It had a platinum band, she picked it out.
The way I did it was we woke up one morning and said, "we are going shopping...."

Other gifts I have given:

About 10 bottles of assorted Wine - Birthday
2 Bottles of Veuve Cliquot (Champagne) - Christmas
2 sets of 310 Thread count queen sheets
VCR
Stereo Receiver
Speakers
Intellimouse Exporer / Computer speakers
Built a computer for her (she paid for the parts)
Halogen Lamp
Leather Coat (my parents bought it for the GF actually)

I have taken her out to dinner and broadway shows as well

edit
BTW, my 3-year is coming up in April, so I am currently brainstorming about this subject as well...
And then we have valentine's day to contend with in th short term

need more ideas....

One of the cutest things my ex ever did for me was to take me to a nice restaurant where he had a dozen roses waiting on the table.

Of course I didn't notice them for the first 5 minutes...I was looking at the view out the window onto Pittsburgh and thought they were just a nice centerpiece....'til either he said something or I finally noticed there were a dozen roses sitting in front of my face (I've never been very observant). It was a beautiful touch. Made my night.

intimate experiences are better than gifts; think about doing something special or unique and memorable.

I bet she'd rather have a diamond ring.

Skoorb I was thinking the same thing. I don't know how old you are, but 2 years is a nice haul. I think I ring would be in order if your in your 20's.

haha. im 19.
i could get her a ring but i dont wanna propose to her!!!
in plus, IM BROKE!!!

Thanks everybody, im still thinking, that sentimental stuff is not my forte, im not really good at that stuff.
But she's probably done all the sentimental stuff for both me and her. She has made me all this stuff for like the month anniverseries whereas i just bought her like a "frame" for a picture of us. or took her out to dinner.
EH!!! luckily im a nice guy and she's still wid me. hehe.

Anyways, i wish this day would finally be over wid (1-20). hahah

I've always loved Epcot (in Disney, remember? ) and I've talked about how much I'd love to see it at Christmas time, so my bf surprised me with the idea of going after Thanksgiving for our 2 yrs (which we're pretty confident we'll reach), and since we're in college we'll split the cost, maybe a hotel room too. We live in Orlando but it'd be something special.

For our 1 year instead of doing gifts, we went to Medieval Times, and that kicked ass Plus our knight was really hot

For our first Christmas together, he got me a really nice framed print of Starry Night (Van Gogh) because I mentioned once that it was my favorite painting...meant a lot because he listened to me and remembered.

Hmm.. this past Christmas, he got me a smartmedia card for my camera, but then afterwards bought this calendar I really wanted and a mug with Starry Night on it because I'd chipped my other one and was very sad about it.

But yeah, I'm hoping for some kind of ring for 2 years

Just remember that sentimentality is more important than expense

Your GF will looooove you forever if you do this.

For my 1 year I took a bunch of pictures that my GF and I had taken throughout the year and scanned them into my computer. I then made a collage in photoshop and took the lyrics to our favorite song and placed it over the collage. I went to kinko's printed it out on a color laser and then bought a nice frame to put it in. That should be a great gift to give, girls love stuff like that.

Another gift that doesn't require much work is if your girlfriend is into lotions and shampoos and such go to Relfect.com. There you can customize face/body lotion, shampoos, conditioners, etc etc and put either her name on it or have it say happy anniversary or something. It's something small but everytime she uses it she'll think of you. =-) I just thought of this one this year. I bought shampoo and conditioner and face lotion which came out to be around $40 shipped, it takes about 7 working days however.
