does anyone know if celing fans are reliable? i have one in my bedroom and it's been making creaky noises lately. do u think i just need to oil it or can it be like super bad? i'm scared that it'll break of and come spinning @ me one expected evening.

perfect timing, just had 2 bedrooms wired for fans, and I just started looking for ceiling fans, altho Costco has a a really nice looking nickle plated one with with remote for $129 and has center light as well...Sams also has a huge selection, now I will have to compare prices with Lowes too thanks for the head up...whats the 20% off coupon tho, I musta missed that one...lemme go peak in my WALLET

There is nothing to oil on most fans. Probably a motor part going bad. I replaced a sqeaking ceiling fan in the family room 4 years ago with a HUnter. It is quiet except for the sound of the moving air. Great fan, costs more than the $20 cheapies, but well worth it.

Agree 100% with joeksi. Installed a ~$90 Hunter ceiling fan in my bedroom last summer. It's dead silent. The only thing you can hear is the 'whir' of the air moving around it. I was hesitant to spend that much on a ceiling fan, but now that I have it, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

It is $25 gift card at my Lowes. I received a register rebate form for the purchase of a $96 fan. It seemed weird that I got a register receipt for a putchase that did not meet the $100 qualification, will have to wait and see if I get it.

IMHO, Hunters are a waste. Have had much better luck with Harbor Breeze (Lowes) or Hampton Bay (Depot) that are said to be made by the same company. I bought one hunter and had to take it back FIVE times to get all of the correct parts. Several family members have had the same. Once I finally got it installed, it is noisy. I have three of the other brands and they work flawlessly.

Next time you are in a burger king, or a mcdonalds. Look at the ceiling fans. They are all HUNTER's. I think that says enough right there. Built to last & affordable.

I got a maxair motor from target last year when they have 75% off. FYI, if you need a fan for decor, search for the style with energy saving logo, but if you are looking for air circulation like me, get the one with airmax or maxair motor, it really move air faster, energy saving = less power to the motor = less air movement = not for me.

That says LOWEST BID to me. I would say that self experience is the best judge. I have bought four Hunters, problems with every one. They were once great, but not anymore.
