The 20 off 50 will most likely not be valid, they rejected the code when everyone used it for the HP printer deal. The code was only for exclusive mastercard users that they emailed it to.

Hmmm ... it's 1:33am here, and I still don't see any chair on officemax.com that mentions the MIR. There are 2 chairs for $69 after $60 IR), but none with MIR. Any thoughts?

Just got back from OMax. The manger said the chair in your link does not qualify for the $50 rebate. The chair that qualifies is $199 , this is the OMC international executive leather chair . Also the leather chair for $69.99 is a misprint, should be fabric according to the manager. maybe different manager,store, would give differnt results. I went to B&M in Milwaukee.

Hold on..... Just called customer service to get her to explain which chair the rebate applies to. They didn't know but she seemed to think that OCM chairs all had a style code of OM###.

How do we know these are OCM chairs that come up when you search.

I went down to Office Max and the chair you indicated, Item # 01223982 is not an OCM chair. Evidently the search feature on Office Max.com isn't very good. For example, your search for "OCM" returned a Samsonite chair. Most of the listings don't indicate the brand, making it very hard to determine what's an OCM chair and what's not.

There is however, a "Manager's Leather Chair" item # 2008-5881 which is currently on sale at $69.99 (down from 99.99). The MIR form shows that this chair (item #28 on the form), when purchased between 11/17 and 11/23, gets a $30 MIR. So if the IR is still in effect next week, the total price will be $39.99.

Sweet deal, but I think I'm gonna pass, I like my cloth 6-way adjustable, If this where on chairs with built in warmers I might have gotten one, but I keep my office like a meat locker, and leather chairs makes you nards freeze when you first sit down.

I went to my local Office Max and the chair item # 01223982 was an OCM chair
or at least the inventory card on the chair indicated it was. I also looked
at the chair item # 20082287 which was also an OCM chair, but more expensive.
After returning home and reading this I called both the local Office Max and then
Officemax.com and was told at both places that both these numbers are OCM chairs.
I decided on the #20082287 because I could order it online with a box of paper
clips and get the $20 off $100 deal making it just about $10.00 more than the other
chair. It's MUCH more comfortable too. I would suggest checking at your local
Office Max and see what they have to say about it.

Thanks, that was helpful. My local Office Max had them listed under a different brand. Probably somebody mixed up the tags.

However, I called OfficeMax.com (800-283-7674), and while the service rep I talked to agreed they were OCM chairs, she went and talked to her manager, who indicated that the dates were incorrect. The dates for the MIRs are in another couple weeks, when the IRs are lifted. She said that the mail in rebate could not be applied to chairs which already had instant rebates. She said that the stores and website specifically indicate when mail in rebates are offered so, for example, if you look up those product numbers, you'll see the IR and not the MIR. I asked what would happen to people who bought chairs on the indicated dates and submitted the MIR, and she said they would be rejected.

I'm not so sure if they can do that (false advertising?), however in small print somewhere they usually say they're not responsible for typos.

Anybody else get a service rep who seemed to think this would fly? I might try to get the MIR anyway. What do you guys think?

This deal is not dead yet. They removed the instant rebate off their site, so you have to call them at 1-877-633-4236. Ask for the on line department and ask for item # 01223982. The instant $60 rebate is from 11-10-02 to 11-16-02. They didn't want to give it to me but I was firm with them and she took the order over the phone. I then used the $50 mail in rebate link that was posted and mailed everthing out today. I am sitting in the chair now and it is great. Best $20 I have spent!
