5%-9% state income tax, high property tax, 24 cents/gallon gas tax, & the highest unemployment rate in the nation. Oregon gotta hate it. Unless of course, you get lucky and catch a break in the rain while you pedal a bike from your apartment down to the unemployment office to collect a check.

I am just waiting for a coupon (it would be greatly appreciated). I need to get this LCD, a new digital camera, and maybe a few other things...

Try California. 9% income tax, 8+ % sales tax, high property tax (not that you can afford a house anyways), highest gas prices in the nation, and high vehicle excise taxes, and the state government is still racked up 38 billion in deficits. At least in Oregon, vehical registration is $30 per 2 years for any car.

I think Washington is the best, there's sales tax, but no income tax, and you can just drive to Oregon to make any big purchases

Yeah except there's the highest suicide rate in the US there so you'd kill yourself before you could drive to Oregon.

Mine got here last week, can't belive I waited so long. I used the 25% off deal but ,if the 2001FP was at full price and I had to get a new screen I would not mind paying it.

FYI - I called Dell Home last night because Dell Business was closed and gave them the 25% coupon code ---> he did the deal. Because it was with Dell Home the SHIPPING WAS FREE!!

Possibility to make the deal just a little sweeter!

I have the order confirmation:

*Sales Tax: (Ohio) $55.08
Shipping and/or Handling: $0.00
Total Order Amount: $841.83

P.S. I love this forum!

Because Dell has a presence in their state in the form of Dell Direct Store. (aka: mall kiosk)

Dell home collects tax in the following states:
Kentucky
Nevada
North Carolina
Tennessee
Idaho
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Virginia
Illinois
Florida
Missouri
California

The only way you're only paying $30 per 2 years in OR for vehicle registration is if you are riding a motorcycle or moped. It's $54 which is still cheap and most likely the only way you're going to bother shopping in OR if you're a resident of WA is if you live in the Vancouver area. Otherwise, you're making a 3 hour trip from Seattle or you're driving from somewhere in the boonies of WA to the boonies of OR. Then again, 3 hours in a car that's actually moving may sound appealing to some CA residents.

Ok, so why am I paying tax in VA then? :/

Also, anyone know how to "subscribe" to receive dell's coupons via email? I checked Dell's site and just can't find it, the confused face says it all.

if you're ordering from the small business division, tax is charged regardless where you live.

Because you made your purchase through Dell Small Business division which charges tax in every state that charges sales tax. Which is every state except:

Alaska
Delaware
Montana
New Hampshire
Oregon

Click on "my account" sign in then click on "Subscriptions" under my account settings and check the boxes.

Edit: My breakfast called in the middle of the post and Conscript had already answered.
