I think they just enter some BS reason in the computer as to why the room wasn't what was originally reserved. Besides, Vegas is completely service driven and nothing drives service likes tips. I would have thought a place like the Cosmo would require more than $20 for success. I used a $50 at Vdara last month. Got a better view but unfortunately the place was pretty booked so there wasn't much availability. But the girl certainly was a lot friendlier as a result.
Wouldn't the front desk clerk get fired if he/she got caught doing that?.
i'm just gonna mention that we're there for my wifes 30th bday as well wonder if that will help at all.
With sandwiched $20 bill:
"Hi I'm booking for my wife's birthday and wanted to do something special for her. Do you have any complimentary upgrades available?"
but is it really her birthday?
There wasn't any trick I used other than straight out asking if I tipped could I get a better room. The lady smiled and said yes.
well it failed for me just now. i slipped the guy a $20 between my ilcense and cc and told him we're here for my wifes 30th bday and if there were any complimentary upgrades. he then said he will see what he can do and handed me the $20 back and i was like you can keep it. he said to let us first do the transaction before he can accept anything.
ended up getting the normal room i booked, and he tried to upsale me on a wrap around for $75/day extra instead of $100/night extra so just didn't do it.
that said, we still have a a sick ass room with a direct view off the balcony at gordon ramsay's face!
