You can substitute 1999 with something else. 1998 should definitely be Celerom 300A. It's the CPU that got a lot of people into overclocking and building powerful computers.

My first rig I built in middle school, the good ole' Celeron 300A (66mhz to 100mhz FSB) and that 450mhz overclock. For nostalgia, I visited my parents house a few weeks ago. All my old rigs (Celeron 300A, Pentium 3's, Pentium 4's, AMD Thunderbird, XP Athlon, Barton, AMD64, AMD64 x2) that were stored in the storage room in the basement were all thrown out unfortunately.

Nice, I don't like the iPhone, but I wouldn't mind having the 7S.

I've gone really simple with my tech: iPhone, Chromebook, Roku. No fuss, just lets me use them without tinkering.

Oh god, this brings back nightmares. I had a zip disk that contained a school project that had been written on by a bad drive. Well when a good drive tried to read from the disk it caused the heads to go out of bounds and it killed the good drive as well. I think I tried to read my project of 5 or 6 zip drives at school wrecking all them as well as the drive I had at home.

Cachez? We don't need no steenking cachez!

I think the Celeron 300a had like 128kb of cache or something, but the original celeron 266 was the real workhorse. I overclocked that baby to 448 mhz months before the 300a was out and it just flew. I only gamed, so it had no issues playing games all decked out with a Riva? 128 card or possibly a 3dfx card at the time. the extra 12 mhz of bus speed made an improvement.

Can't even login to post a comment to the Giveaway article even though I can login to AT forums. I could've sworn it's the same user database?

No, it's not the same database (unfortunately), at least not as long as I've been here (since 2005 - ignore my join date).

I guess I'm imagining that I've posted on AT for a contest before, but I must not have.

Not to mention no TLS on Anandtech.com, not even for login? And this is a fucking (high) tech site?

you probably shared password and username, but likely updataed the forum password some months ago due to the hack and increased security, and did not do the same with the main page comments. They have long been separate databases.

So....we register for this thing only once, right? each day we get x number of draw chances for x number of registrations each reward, after registering only the one time?

Thanks zin, that explains it. So I do have a regular AT account as well. But with an old potentially compromised password? And they don't use TLS on the main site? Is it 2017 or 1997? Lol...

You have to register for each day's contest, as you are inviting different companies to spamvertise to you.
